Wishing Everyone a Very Happy New Year!

Image
I'll skip the retrospective, primarily because the significant events/changes in 2018 were related to work, and work is just work, in the end.  :-) However, I will take this opportunity to thank you so very much for your continued cyber friendship and support, and wish you the very best of life for this new year. Below: Snagged from Jacquie Lawson's ecard site--I do have a paid subscription to her cards, so I don't feel guilty for snipping an image and adding my own text.   And a bit of inspiration from my go-to site, TinyBuddha.com: Happy New Year! Peace to All Beings.

Some kitties got spoiled!

Here we are, heading into the last 4 days (weekend included) of my Christmas break. What the heck happened to the other 7 days? The best part of Christmas was watching "some kitties" have fun with the goodies "Santa" brought them. Christmas Eve I let them open one present: an inexpensive sheepskin I had ordered from Ikea , on sale to boot. I always swore I'd never buy a sheepskin--the poor sheep!--but it's "funny" what one will do for one's fur companions. Of course Nicki was the first to check it out. You can just seen Derry, tentatively approaching, below.     This has been a hit. Most of the time I have it on my couch, sometimes the ottoman, and both boys have cuddled up on it in turn, nice and cosy. Then late in the morning I let the boys have their presents from "Santa." (Note: I happen to know that Santa put catnip in the stocking, hence the reason Nicki, then finally Derry, had so much fun with the stocking i...

A very happy Christmas to all!

Image
A very happy Christmas to you all, from the three of us.  Derry yesterday. He just celebrated his 11th Gotcha Day on Dec. 21.  Nicki, wisely staying inside ! Image from a Google search.  Thank you for your continued blog friendship for so many years. However you celebrate, and with whomever, we wish you a wonderful holiday. Light, Peace and Purrs to all. Comments are off.

How to succeed at (my) life

Image
This week I dug out my FitBit, something I haven't used in about 7 months. It was because of my over-use of the FitBit that I developed plantar fasciitis in the left foot (I've had it in the right foot for years ). I'm a walker, have to be without a car, so making 10,000 steps a day never really was an issue. The issue was pushing myself to do that before noon, and pushing myself to take 12,000 steps a day, 15,000, more. So when I was no longer able to walk due to the pain, I tucked the FitBit away in a drawer without any intention of using it again. Well, this week I thought I'd resurrect it, more for the time function than anything else. I recharged it, and this time, I set the bar low. Not 10,000 steps a day, which my foot cannot do for 7 days a week, every week. Nope, this time I set it for a measly 2500 steps. And you know what I've discovered? The secret --seriously --to succeeding in life is to set the bar low.  Really low. Because wh...

Two-Tabby Tuesday

Image
I had a lovely vacation day yesterday (I highly recommend Mondays off, MUCH better than taking Fridays), "ran the roads" all morning, as my mom would say, then was home in the afternoon. So I've got some (mostly blurry) cell phone snaps of the boys...a two-tabby Tuesday! Nicki in front, with Derry in the background, hunkered over the radiator (furnace had come on).  Derry's favourite spot these days! Somekitty (Nicki) managed to get himself up to the top of my closet. My fault, I had moved a little shelf unit in there, for some thick sweaters. Once he jumped down I moved the shelf further back, so he can't use it to jump to the top of the shelf. (I don't care that he gets up, just that he'd always be "rearranging" the baskets and blankets I have up there!)   Uh, where am I supposed to sit to blog?!   Photobomb!  Nope, Nicki was NOT going out into the cold! (This was late afternoon.)  Silly boy!    Derry...
