Happy Friday from the mooches!

Image
Jake and George were waiting for their treats when I got home from my early morning walk. I can guess what they want for Christmas! 😆 Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!

Singing like it's Spring (and miscellany)

Image
Every day on my early morning walks along one particular side street, I hear a robin singing his heart out like it's Spring. You know the song; I liken it to "here I am, ladies". I keep telling him he's got the wrong season, but so far he hasn't clued in. The other robins I hear aren't doing this; they seem to either know better or be less optimistic. (No pics from the walks, it's too dark.)   ***    Sunday the 23rd marked the 6th anniversary of Nicki's passing. I don't dwell on those hard days, as there's little point in focusing energy on the negative (there's enough of it in our world now as it is!). I believe Ann   had made the collage below, along with his remembrance graphics.    I had a love/hate relationship with Nicki, so I'd be lying if wrote that I miss all the constant trouble he got into for most of his life. But I do occasionally miss his energy (and he had a lot of energy!) as well as his happy purrs. He wasn't a lap...

It's that time of year...again!

Below: Sunrise on Saturday, snapped from the front bedroom window.     Our snow is gone now, mercifully; however, it's that time of year again....   At the mall early yesterday morning, well before it opened.     I had popped in to grab a London fog tea latté in between buses, saw the holiday decorations up now. Santa's village looks much the same as it did last year, and I was told (when I asked) that "Santa" will arrive this Friday. Note to self: Avoid the mall at all costs until after the holidays, unless very early in the morning! (Or I'm in a masochist mood.)   By the squealing of a couple of toddlers yesterday, checking it out with their parents, you'd have thought Santa was going to be there momentarily! They were cute, but at 9 AM, the little girl's shrill shrieking was just about enough to burst my eardrums. Especially before I'd ingested any caffeine. 😏   ***   Below: Jake (one of the neighourhood mooches) earlier this month. George has...

Lest We Forget

May we never forget, lest history repeat itself. Shutterstock image Comments are off.

And so it begins!

After a glorious Saturday... Sunday brought wet snow, freezing rain, then snow.  It's not unprecedented, but it IS early. It should be gone in a few days, but it's pretty slippery underneath right now, as there's a quarter inch or so of ice under that top layer. I had to drag out my winter boots and the salt (for the steps and driveway) this morning!  By some miraculous happenstance, our complex was being sanded first thing today, just as I was leaving to mince my way down to the new café at the bottom of the hill. I wondered if our usual property "manager" had retired or died and been replaced. 😁 Anyway, and so it begins, our long and dreary winters of snow, rain, freezing rain, melt, repeat.  On the plus side, we're one day closer to Spring! ☺️😆
