And so it begins!

After a glorious Saturday...

Sunday brought wet snow, freezing rain, then snow.

It's not unprecedented, but it IS early. It should be gone in a few days, but it's pretty slippery underneath right now, as there's a quarter inch or so of ice under that top layer. I had to drag out my winter boots and the salt (for the steps and driveway) this morning!

By some miraculous happenstance, our complex was being sanded first thing today, just as I was leaving to mince my way down to the new café at the bottom of the hill. I wondered if our usual property "manager" had retired or died and been replaced. 😁

Anyway, and so it begins, our long and dreary winters of snow, rain, freezing rain, melt, repeat.

On the plus side, we're one day closer to Spring! ☺️😆

Kim I have such sweet memoires of your Derry and Nickki in the back yard exploring in the snow. Goodness even our NC mountains have a predicted record snow fall tonight. Higher elevations could get a 1 foot this is just crazy this early
Hugs Cecilia
How awful to have the icy glaze over the nasty white stuff. Ours is coming this afternoon. They say I could get 4 inches here, but less in the farther south of the state. I want NONE of it! Like you, this is early and bitter. The birds here are starting to mob me for food already. Hope you got something really good at the cafe. And not slip-and-falls. Lynn and Precious XX
Dear friend, we got snow ❄️ here in Montreal which I love ❤️ We also got freezing 🥶 rain 🌧 which I don't like.
I wish you a day filled with happiness, love and warm hugs ❤️ 🫂 🤗
Burrrr Humbug I say! We were quite warm here the last couple of days and tomorrow is a hard freeze, yikes!

We have had snow showers all day that started at 0230 according to my iWatch....UGH. Loved your saying "mincing down" to the cafe I do that too on ice and snow.

Yuck, I hope it clears up in a few days, and this was just a reminder of what is to come....in December perhaps?
We had snow at home but it was melting today. I'm happy to be out of it. I shouldn't complain but it has been stinking hot (30-33C every day), with a cooling trend expected this weekend. I'll like that...and no snow.

Snow is rare here, and I really like your outlook, a little closer to spring!
Not quite mid November and snow already! Take care. We are still having unseasonably high temperatures of 15-16C, it should be around 6-8. The perpetual gloom and rain make it feel more miserable. The weather forecaster said we are stuck under an anticyclonic gloom. I wish it would go away! At least we are not likely to have snow!

Ice under the snow...one of the most hazardous conditions for bicycling, I can tell you; every turn of the wheels is a guessing game.

Ick. Sorry your autumn splendor was cut short by the ice and snow, Kim. We had a little snow today, but it did not stick. Be careful out there, my friend.

We even had snow flurries here in north GA! 🙀 Thankful the cold snap was short-lived! Kit, Kat, Rocky & Cali

I hate winter. I hate the cold and I hate the rain. Oh, I know we need the rain - badly - but I just wish it would rain only overnight, when I don't have to go out! I will TRY to adopt your wise philosophy and tell myself we are one day closer to Spring!
