Musings on a Small Life

We had the most stunning sunrise this morning, just incredible. I happily snapped away, so here are a handful of the shots. I had to clone out the intrusive street lamp in two of the pics, but the others I managed to zoom in enough to avoid it. Happy Friday, everyone!

I've been walking home from work now, more often than not. Usually only 3kms in the morning and the full 5kms at the end of the day. It's great mental therapy and I have more time to dawdle and snap pictures. :-) One of these weekends (not this one, unfortunately), I hope to get back out to Lemoine Point so I have something other than floral or sky snapshots to post.

I've been having a wonderful morning at the office, with just we three women here. Oh, the freedom to talk about whatever we wish! LOL. I know I've stated it before, but I feel especially blessed (in the universal, spiritual sense) to have two such amazing and supportive co-workers. Nikko wasn't hanging around my step this morning, though the food dish was empty and the water bowl partially depleted. Of course, there are other neighbourhood kitties that roam at will, so I don't know who ate and drank. No matter, as long as they are taken care of. I need to buy kibble for them, as I refilled the bowl with the last of what I had on hand. (My cats are well-stocked on food, however.) Mom goes in for cataract surgery on her eye tomorrow morning. Sorry,  Mom, but I can't remember if it's the right or left. Left, I think. She had the other one done a number of weeks ago. Good  luck! I'm sending lots of healing Light! I mean Nikko (not sure of the spelling), my neighbour's tabby. The Nicki-look-a-like. I've been winning him over with treats and food and finally was able to pat him today when I got home from work. (He's very wary of people.) He was curled up by the shrub adjacent to my front step; it's nice and cosy there. He came up onto my step and I took the chance and ran my hand down his back. Well...He's starved for affection! He's an absolute sweetheart , a real love. He couldn't get enough scritches and rubs, no sign at all that he was becoming over-stimulated and getting ready to bite or scratch. In fact, he purred softly the entire time I was with him. I even went in the house and got a little comb (a new one from a package I had bought at Wal-Mart ages ago now) and went at his fur. He desperately needs a bath and a good grooming. I got tons of fur out, but he's shedding like crazy and needs a heck of a lot more than the 15 or so minutes I gave him. I l...

Monday's sunrise. I wasn't happy with the snapshots, saved only three, am posting only this one. I didn't bother cloning out the transmitter towers or whatever they are, and the power lines--too lazy. But at least I managed to avoid the street lamp!

...because I don't have anything to write. :-) BTW, there were no drips at all yesterday, none this AM. I am entertaining the possibility that it is related to condensation in cold weather. Cold pipes + hot water draining. Beats me. If there's no dripping all spring and summer, but it starts dripping again in the fall/winter, I guess I'll have my answer. We shall see! I'm just glad I didn't pay a plumber to come out; it would have been wasted money. (And did you know that Mr. Rooter's minimum charge for pipe replacement is 5 feet/$230? I'll never call them again unless it's an emergency and I'm desperate!) Oh, this morning's sunrise was absolutely magnificent . If any of my snapshots came out, I'll post them tomorrow.

It would appear that the pipe drip in my basement is a mystery. A co-worker and her hubby kindly came out to look at it a bit earlier and of course it wouldn't drip. All the pipes seem well-sealed and tight, so the husband's speculation is that the water is running down a pipe behind the wall. Possibly from the shower, though when I filled and then drained the tub while they were here, nothing happened. Nothing happened when I filled the kitchen sink either, though. So it's a mystery and a potentially very costly one, if the leak is behind the wall somewhere, especially if it's coming from upstairs. That would entail much ripping apart of walls and thousands of dollars. Right now it's not serious, so I won't worry--too much--about it. But maybe it's time to sell and rent. Of course, no one is going to buy a leaky townhouse that needs a new bathroom, kitchen, and a slew of cosmetic work. And I suppose the Universe would have to take Nicki away from me t...

Okay, they aren't really Saturday's sky views. The first was Thursday evening's sky and the second Friday morning's view. Even when there isn't a dramatic sunset or sunrise, the sky still is amazing. It's impossible to tire of Mother Nature's canvassess.  :-)

What a gift it is to be able to see such glorious colour! The first two snapshots were taken yesterday at lunch time and the latter two on my walk home after work.

Snapped on the way home last Thursday, the 15th. I just haven't gotten around to posting them. The first is a better snapshot of a striped squill. (I remembered the name! LOL.) No "exciting" adventures to relate from Sunday, as it was cold (3C in the morning) and I didn't feel like dressing up in layers to head out anywhere. It did warm up, but not enough! So I lazed around with the cats and read and ate all day.  :-)
