The cat show is back on this weekend

The annual Canadian Cat Fanciers Club cat show is taking place this weekend, for the first time since 2019. I hemmed and hawed about going, wasn't sure how I'd feel, but in the end went down for an hour or so this morning. It was harder walking in than I anticipated, and I just let the tears come. I find it pointless to try to suppress my emotions, it only makes things worse. I was okay after 10 - 15 minutes, so walked around for a while, disappointed in the small number of vendors and the lack of (rescue) housecats. They will have the "ordinary" housecats this weekend at some point, but I didn't see any while I was there, just various purebreds. I watched a bit of the judging (four rings going at once), but wasn't interested enough to sit down and watch for any length of time. There were a lot of kittens, obviously at their first show, many seemingly very scared and overwhelmed. I can't blame them, poor babies.  I ached to have my hands in kitty fur, but...

Off to the annual cat show!

On Sunday I went to the annual cat show held at Portsmouth Olympic Harbour (on all weekend). I think it had been 5 or 6 years since I'd gone, though I can't quite recall. It looked pretty much the same, though the one judge I really liked wasn't there, not sure if he retired, was elsewhere or whether something has happened to him. Anyway, I watched a couple of rings, and as before, my preference was for the house cats, rather than the purebreds. I'll apologize in advance for the poor photo quality. I didn't want to use the flash, so had the p&s in sports mode. I deleted most of the pics I took; just too blurry. As always, click to enlarge for better viewing.     The ginger one (second from the left, below) never stopped singing the song of his people. Oy!  I promise I won't complain (too much) about Nicki's vocalizing. LOL.             Yes, you , you had a lot to say. Constantly!   Hard to make her o...

Reach for the Top

Image
In Canada, " Reach for the Top " was the name of a television show that pitted high school students against each other in a question and answer game. It ran on CBC from 1966 to 1985. At the cat show this weekend, however, "reach for the top" has a different meaning. Especially when you're a Bengal kitten.   The climbing posts were new this year, by the way.  :-) It's still grey on grey here, with a messy, snowy/rainy week ahead. Everyone I know seems to be feeling the effects of the lack of sunshine, and of the seemingly endless winter weather. So I'll post a few leftover pics from the greenhouse last week (was it only last Sunday?), for some colour. I know I'm feeling quite desperate for green now!  Funky bark! I don't know what the plant/tree is, though.  If someone knows, feel free to post a comment! I hope everyone has a good week. Purrs and peace from the boys.  :-)
