Leftover May Pics

Image
Wow, the end of May already. I can't believe how quickly the time is passing, even though some of the days seem long to me, with no change in my daily routine. Anyway, I'm going to post some remaining May pics to wind up the month (mostly floral). The tulips, lilacs, etc. are done now, of course, or at least have peaked and are on their way out. I hope everyone has a great week; take care and stay well.  Note: Comments are off for this post, just enjoy the colour, if you like flowers! Otherwise skip the snapshots. Well, except for the cute one of Derry at the end.  :-) I was struck by how deceptively pretty the view of one part of the complex was, below. That fence barricade had been put up in late winter to prevent people (me included) from cutting across the driveway (rental unit) to cross the green space. From just the right angle, with the trees in bloom at the time, it looks lovely. (My own street looks more like an urban slum, thanks to one of the tentants.)  Little...

Ahh, Friday

Image
I love a three-day work week. Monday was our Victoria Day holiday and I took Tuesday as a vacation day, plus Ontario universities (all? most?) were given Friday the 21st as a bonus day off, a thank-you for pandemic efforts. Bonus! I got my first Pfizer vaccination on Friday (the 21st) and hope that the Ontario government will move up the date of the second dose for everyone. (Currently my second one is slated for September 10th.) I had been worried about it going in, but my goodness, I couldn't even tell she had injected me, the needle must have been so fine (I never watch, needles are NOT my thing). I sat for an extra 10 minutes beyond the requisite 15, just because I was so stressed about it, about going into anaphylactic shock. The two monitors, both older healthcare workers, were very kind. Anyway, I have a slew of pics from the past couple of weeks, walks to and from the grocery stores and a couple of jaunts into the nearby cemetery. I see that  Blogger is not allowing me to i...

Wordy Wednesday

Image
We're still here and plugging along, knock on wood! :-)       A couple of homes in the larger area have Japanese cherry trees, and I snapped a few pics earlier this month. I think they're in full bloom now, soon to be done. I'm mired in work stuff, so don't have a lot to write about. I do have pics to post, though, from weekend walking to one grocery store or another.   Loblaws' garden centre, normally filled by now, has been slim pickings the past two times I've been. I've managed to pick up a few hanging baskets (not for hanging) and a few other annuals too. They've all been potted now, though we still have had frost warnings a few times.   I was so thrilled to catch the finch in the tree behind our fence. This was the best of the quick snaps I was able to get.   It's been unseasonably cold and the tulips are slow this year.   I think this is a Japanese quince.   It's lovely to see the trees coming into bloom!     I managed to catch a ...
