Vacation redo, please!

Image
I took last week off as vacation (the four days after the Victoria Day Monday). Ha! Mostly it was cold and rainy, and I heard on the news last Friday that we're having the coldest May in 10 years. I believe it!   Below: May 16 sunrise, a very brief burst of colour in the otherwise grey and gloom.     All was not lost for the time off, though, as I had a couple of appointments and spent every morning out anyway, in spite of the weather. I also had lots of cosy tea and reading time in the afternoons.   Below: I swung by campus on the holiday Monday (May 19), to get a few pics of the cherry blossoms before they were all gone. OMC, it was COLD! I didn't linger!     I also had taken Monday May 12th off, as friends had kindly come up to help me in the little garden. We dug up the invasive stuff, as well as the two hostas by the fence that got too much light and fried to a crisp by June/July every year. (I shouldn't have split the original ones and put them there ...

Wordy Wednesday: Mighty Magnus

Image
I saw Magnus (Bernese x Saint Bernard) and his human last week while out walking, had first met them in January, when he was 4 months old. He's 10 months now, and 140 pounds! He's great with humans, fortunately, but gets excited (to play) around other dogs and loves to chase squirrels. She has not taken him to obedience training and admitted she can lose control of him, which considering she's a very slight older woman, is unfortunate and dangerous for her. For them both, IMO. Anyway, I'm off this week, bad timing with our cold weather and rain, but still, a week away from work is good regardless.  I've had a few things on the go, in particular a reworking of the garden (in progress) and multiple Ikea bookcase assembly, and I'll do an update post soon. 😊 Take care, all!

Wordless Wednesday: More, lady!

George a couple of days ago, snapped through the screen. This was after his Fancy Feast and separate Greenies. I did not succumb to his appeal for yet more and he left, probably in a huff. Bonus: Jake yesterday, after his morning Fancy Feast.

I got up this morning to find Finn (another of the neighbourhood cats) by my door and Jake at the bottom of the stairs. Neither was moving on and neither was getting too close to the other. They weren't aggressive, just...wary of each other. I don't know why Finn was hanging about; Jake was waiting for a bit of Fancy Feast, though.     So Finn, above, got far more Greenies than he needed just to keep him away from Jake's food, while Jake (below) was eating his breakfast.     Of course this means I'll probably have Finn on my doorstep now, looking for treats, along with Jake. Finn already gets spoiled by others, not hard to tell by the look of him (ha!) and doesn't need more from me.  Oh, I saw Carla the other day, for the first time in ages. She must be at least 15 now. (She was on her own doorstep.)     She and Nicki hated each other and Nicki would fly into a rage when she would hang around the outside of the fence. I think she spends most of her tim...

Window Whiffies on a Wordless Wednesday

Snapped on Saturday at a traffic light, while I was cabbing from an appointment. It was refreshing to see the dog secured properly in the back seat. Handsome fellow!

Friday Funnies

Just a few "funnies" for a smile today. There's nothing of note here, it's the usual work, errands, life stuff. 🙃 Have a great day! (Bonus recent blooms below.)
