Finally a real post

I still don't really understand what's going on with the blogger/spam issue, in spite of someone (repeatedly) trying to explain what she thinks has happened. A hack at the Blogger end of things? I saw those spam posts in a secondary Feedly account I have, when I checked it over the weekend, so it's not just coming from whatever email Blogger uses when you subscribe to feeds. Whatever. I did forward the text of the spam email on to Canon US, but would bet dollars to doughnuts I'll never get a response from them. So, onward. Nicki's back to eating his bit of kibble daily now, and is doing fine other than another asthma attack before his Flovent this morning (previous one was ten days ago, the day after his dental). Crappity crap, but it is what it is. The boys spent part of yesterday being tormented by a couple of the squirrels, one of the grey fellows and one of the black. (I didn't get a good pic of the grey one.)     Derry out on ...

Moving right along

I was going to wait for warmer/better weather for the Salvation Army donation pick-up, but why not now? Better to keep things moving along. So they're coming on Monday the 16th, and I have fingers crossed that the weather will at least be dry. I won't have as much as in the previous two donation pick-ups in 2016, but there still will be a fair bit and I intend to go through everything this weekend, to see what else I'm ready to get rid of. (Actually, I'm ready to donate most of my furniture now, except I still live in the house and don't really want to keep my clothes and linens in boxes. LOL.) Yesterday early AM at my bus stop. What an icy mess. Hurry up, Spring!   We've had warmer temps and rain since, so a lot of the snow has disappeared now, which is fine by me. Nicki continues to improve, or at least seems to be improving, though he's not yet back to eating his meager daily ration of kibble. Derry -- well, I don't know what got...

Staycation Day 5: Am I in the middle of an Air Farce episode?

Image
I nearly missed the Salvation Army pick up guys yesterday -- I was upstairs gathering a few more items of clothing, heard a truck, looked out the window and saw it driving away, down the street. Gees! I ran downstairs and out the door, waving my arms madly and shouting, "Wait! Wait!" They heard/saw me and backed up, thank goodness. I don't know what they were expecting, everything piled up by the garage door? My front door was open, just the screen locked, indicating someone was home. Certainly no one got out to knock or ring the doorbell. Anyway, it all worked out, thank goodness. Before   After. A few things for the dump and a lot of empty boxes. I headed out to Costco afterward, for Nicki's meds, then went to Tim Horton's for lunch. Now, those few of  you in Canada probably have seen an Air Farce episode, and that's exactly what I felt I was in, eating my sandwich and listening to snippets of conservation among three older men at the table ...

Hurry Up and Wait

Image
There was a lot of "hurry up and wait" this morning, as I hung around hoping the Salvation Army truck guys would show up before noon. Finally I called around 11AM, to be told that they couldn't tell me when the guys would be here, as they didn't leave the store till 10:30. I wasn't impressed. I snagged a blank piece of copy paper and wrote, in bold marker, that I couldn't wait for them the entire day and that I'd donate to another charity, thanks very much. I fully intended to tape it to my door at 11:40 and head out for a few errands. Of course, about five minutes after I wrote the note and got it all ready to be taped up, the truck arrived--at 11:20AM. They took everything I had put aside for donation (no surprise, as everything was in excellent condition), including a large open shelving unit that had been in my garage since the spring. And I even managed to make my 11:50 bus. I have a long list of errands for the weekend, things that I need to pick ...
