Moving right along

I was going to wait for warmer/better weather for the Salvation Army donation pick-up, but why not now? Better to keep things moving along.

So they're coming on Monday the 16th, and I have fingers crossed that the weather will at least be dry. I won't have as much as in the previous two donation pick-ups in 2016, but there still will be a fair bit and I intend to go through everything this weekend, to see what else I'm ready to get rid of. (Actually, I'm ready to donate most of my furniture now, except I still live in the house and don't really want to keep my clothes and linens in boxes. LOL.)

Yesterday early AM at my bus stop.
What an icy mess. Hurry up, Spring!

We've had warmer temps and rain since,
so a lot of the snow has disappeared now, which is fine by me.

Nicki continues to improve, or at least seems to be improving, though he's not yet back to eating his meager daily ration of kibble.

Derry -- well, I don't know what got into him last night, but he was full of cattitude and beans. I caught him lounging on the dining table, as cool as you please, when I came downstairs from my shower. (They know not to get up on the counters or table in my presence.) I chased him off and he spent the evening zooming around and generally looking for trouble, which usually is Nicki's domain. Maybe he felt the need to take up Nicki's slack, or maybe he's just getting stir crazy indoors.

Yeah, yeah, don't be fooled by a sweetly sleeping kitty!
The work week has been fine so far for me. Challenging for a co-worker and her family, whose sister-in-law died last Saturday in a freak accident (out walking, killed by a falling tree). Then yesterday, her mother-in-law's sister passed of a heart attack. (That is, the same woman who just lost her daughter then lost her own sister.) Apparently the sister had been unwell and in a nursing home, so it wasn't unexpected, but the timing was exceptionally bad. My co-worker said her m-i-l's sister (in the home) took the loss of her niece very hard. I really don't know how much grief one family can bear. My thoughts and prayers are with them all.

So I have nothing to complain about at all.

My hope is that your week also has given you nothing about which to grumble.

Peace.

I have been in my own little world the past few weeks and am just now back at the office, catching up on blogs. I'm glad to see that Nicki is improving from his dental procedure. Hope the liver supplements work for him! You have made a lot of progress with the cleaning and donating...great job!

Sometimes it's a lot healthier (mentally and emotionally) to be in one's own little world!

Hi Kim, I wonder what got into Derry! What a sweetie. Glad Nick is continuing to improve.
Love the quote from Tiny Buddha.
Talk soon!

Once in a while Derry will remind me that he's not always the good brother. :-D

Glad to hear that Niki is improving. We had 2 of our 3 down sick this week. Weird? Ghost seems to be over it, but Tux is going to the Vet's today. And I agree that we can always "...chose to be kind".

That's funny that Derry went crazypants! Glad Nicki is doing better! Very sad about your co-worker's family. I can't imagine.

Oh our streets look much the same with all the ice and packed snow. I'm hoping this cold snap ends soon...tomorrow they are saying but I'll believe it when I see it.

Funny Derry, he must have felt he needed to fill in for Nicki. Hope Nicki continues to improve.

Geez, that's terrible about your co-worker's family. I alsways think that a falling tree would be easy to avoid, or not do much damage if it hit me (ie. a great collection of branches might scratch but not cause much injury.) That of course is false, and an unfortunate number of people are lost this way each year. And the other deaths, too. The poor family.

As for Derry, that sneaky eye says it all...

Hmmm...I think Derry's one opened eye is letting us know he's not all sweetness and light, at least not today :) How funny because I always pictured just Nicki being the crazy one. I can't picture him lounging on the dining table.

That's great to hear that Nicki continues to feel better. Purrs that he gets a better appetite soon. Yes, Derry must have been trying to pick up the slack. :)

That's so sad about all that your co-worker's family is going through. We're sending all good thoughts their way.

I don't think the email was hacked, though the blog name has been hijacked for spam. The blog has been inactive for over a year, though, so....shrug.

Thanks, I'm sure they appreciate the good thoughts.

Nicki IS the crazy one, but once in a while....LOL.

Yeah, you'd think...I'd read in one of the news articles that it wasn't even a particularly large tree. It must have been the way it struck her. It was very windy at the time. :-(

I hope you're cold snap ends too. We had a "warm" couple of days, and now a few days of bitter cold are upon us. But at least we have sunshine!

Thanks for stopping by. Sometimes Derry still surprises me. :-)

I saw your post about Tux and I'm sending all the healing energy/Light I have!

Glad Nicki is doing so much better! Yep, Derry is just taking up the slack. Very sorry to hear about your co-workers loss. The quote you shared is excellent.

I thought that quote was good too (obviously), one worth keeping in mind. Hugs and purrs.

Derry, you are trying to get some energy burned off! How awful..past awful for the co-worker. Poor family. It must seem overwhelming. Here the temps ridiculously high and that being in the high or low 60's in the day. But third week of rain with it.
