Cuties along the way

Image
I got together yesterday with a family friend, and after a light lunch at a west end café, we walked through Lemoine Point. It's a spot I haven't been in many years, for several reasons. Here are some cuties along the way. Finn One of the many fat squirrels looking for a handout.  Cain, adopted from an overseas country. His brother, Abel, went to his forever home elsewhere.  Another fat squirrel  Finally, a lucky shot of a nuthatch. A young girl was holding out her seed-filled palm to him, but he was undecided about the free food.  It was freezing out at the conservation area, but that didn't deter all the people who were there walking. The parking lots were quite full!  It was nice to catch up and walk somewhere I don't get to anymore. A good way to start the year.

So many pictures, so little time

Image
Okay, maybe not so little time. But definitely so many pictures during Dad's visit! First, thank you all for Nicki's Gotcha Day wishes. He had a (regular) vet appointment on Tuesday, and I had blood work done again because of increasingly high liver/other values. Well, the vet emailed me yesterday evening with the results: fantastic! His blood work came back better than it has in years , with his calcium, liver, and everything else well within normal. Yay! And while it could be coincidence, I tend to attribute this to the liver and immune support supplement I've been giving him since January, ordered from PetAlive.com. Whatever the reason for the good results, I hope this trend continues. Now on to a few pics from last Friday's jaunt with Dad to Lemoine Point. We'd gone for lunch at Montana's, then wanted to walk off some of the calories. The rib sampler, which was yummy. I had it too, but with rice. At Lemoine Point. Soggy, muddy, and still ver...

Off to "Lemony Point"

Image
I went to Lemoine Point yesterday, or "Lemony Point," as someone out in blog land used to put it. Entry via Rotary Park I didn't go far in, just through Rotary Park and then along the first part of one of the trails in the conservation area. There were lots of geese!          There were lots of ducks of all ages too.         I haven't been out there on my own in a very long time, partly because our region has such a  high concentration of tics and partly because of the ongoing back/hip/leg pain. So instead of putting unrealistic expectations on myself, to walk the perimeter of the area for a couple of hours, I opted to walk for an hour before turning back and heading for the bus stop. (It's about 1.5 kms into the conservation area from the nearest bus stop, therefore another 1.5 kms out. That's a guess based on knowing my own pace--moderate walk time per kilometer.) I did okay, better than I expecte...

In the middle of Dad's annual visit

Image
Dad arrived last Friday at supper time. Since then, it's been almost non-stop food and drink. I think I'm going to explode.  :-P At Montana's Restaurant on Saturday afternoon for a late lunch.  Cooking breakfast. We've been to "Lemony" Point (Lemoine Point):             And to the "trail" along our waterfront (Portsmouth Olympic Habour to Lake Ontario Park):    The now-empty maximum security prison in the distance.               And to Gananoque: The swan has lost his or her mate since last year.          I thought at first that this was a beaver, but I do believe it's a muskrat. (I Googled pics of both.)                 Dad's picking me up before noon today, and surprise, we're going out for lunch. LOL. Probably will walk somewhere afterward, but I don't...
