It's Four O'Clock Somewhere

That means I can crack open the wine without guilt. ;-) So. I had a lovely hike around the Point again today. I really hadn't intended to go back, having just been a week ago, but it was a perfect summer morning (perfect summer day!) and I couldn't resist. I wasn't in the mood to go shopping, didn't feel like buying anything. (I hear a collective gasp !) I thought I'd be out there, camera in hand, for an hour, but no, it was two. It's always two hours. I can't seem to do it in less, not while I'm taking my time and looking for photo ops. It was great mental therapy for me today. Even though there were a lot of people out there, running and hiking and cycling, plus walking their dogs--so many that by the time I was heading for the exit, I was sick of saying "good morning" to every one I passed. LOL. Certainly there was no hope of coming across any deer, with so much noise from we two-leggeds. Afterward I stopped at Jysk to check out their curta...

Hiking Around the Point

Used to be, five years ago, that I could hike for two hours and still have energy to spare. Huh. Not so anymore. I've been home for a couple of hours now and am just getting my second wind back. Of course, five years ago I wasn't packing 30 or 40 extra pounds, either. Anyway, I had a great hike! No deer, but plenty of other critters and I have those pics on my Fuzzy Tales blog . A few other pics are below. By the way, while I was out there, on one of the main trails not far from the entrance, a young woman with dyed platinum blond hair and skimpy clothes, plus over-sized handbag, went by. By herself. Not the type to just be out for an 8AM hike, not wearing those clothes. I confess I didn't notice the footwear, but I'm sure whatever she was sporting on her feet wasn't appropriate for hiking trails. I'm thinking she hadn't quite finished her night's work, frankly. I detoured to take a few pics and I didn't see her again. Wondered what married scum she ...

Happy Trails To You...

I finally made it back out to the conservation area this morning. Hadn't been since the end of April, when I saw all the deer, frogs, and snakes. None of the above today, but plenty of chipmunks and squirrels (grey, black, and red), plus chickadees--even a male cardinal. I wanted to hike the full perimeter, but like last time, got bogged down in, well, the bog. LOL. Though I made it further along a particular trail than I did at the end of April, I still could go only so far and had to double-back, pick up a narrow path that crossed the area and come out on another drier, well-used trail. Perhaps the next time I go that particular route will be dry at long last. I did take plenty of pics -- 114 in fact -- saved 68 of them. Too many to upload to May's Picasa album via my slow dial up at home, so they'll have to wait till Monday and high speed access at the office. In the meantime, here's my favourite critter pic from the hike.
