At long last: Signs of Spring

Image
Snowdrops from my morning walk today. It seemed fitting to see my first real signs of Spring (other than the birds!) on the second anniversary of Mom's passing. Renewal and hope. 💖

And so week three begins

Image
Week three of working from home begins today. I'm glad to be able to work remotely*, it gives me some structure and focus to the week days. The weekends are more challenging, as those typically are the days I would run errands and shop, even if only for necessities. I find that while I now have the time, I actually don't have the motivation to learn a new language, take up some sort of new exercise routine, make inroads on my stack of books, or, ugh, deep clean the house. Really, all I'm doing, like most of us I suspect, is taking it one day at a time and just trying to survive as best as possible. I'm continuing to walk as much as possible, rambling around the quiet streets in the area. The big positive for me is that this year, at least, I feel like I'm able to appreciate my favourite season, Spring. I'm not rushing out the door to catch the bus, not rushing to get to the office or rushing to get home after a long day. So I...

Wordless Wednesday: A happy sight!

Image
Spied this morning on the way in to the office, close to someone's front step and in a very protected, south-facing area. Considering we still have snow and ice on the ground and temps are barely above freezing, I'm impressed. Definitely a happy sight! And always a happy sight for me: Derry in his kitty cave yesterday evening. I brought it back out a couple of days ago, since he doesn't seem to care for the long tunnels. Have a great Wednesday! Comments are off, as this is Wordless (for you!) Wednesday. Peace.

Spring stroll

Image
Sunday was so lovely, the first real spring day since February, that after an early morning errand run I headed down to our waterfront to enjoy the sunshine. Pics, in order, from my stroll. As always, click to enlarge for better viewing. How lovely to see the crocuses and masses of snowdrops!         The Isabel and Tett Centres, the creative arts centre for our campus.     Windmills on Wolfe Island   Looking toward the Murney Tower (museum)  Looking through the park sculpture, with the windmills barely visible in the distance.   Looking back the way I came.   Finally some buds!   The Murney Tower museum   There's still ice on some of the inner marinas.   This Celtic cross is on a public walkway that wends through a high-rise condo development.     The Wolfe Island ferry coming in. Another defensive tower in the distance.   The tower at RMC (Royal...

Catching up on various things

Image
I have several random things for posting today, in no particular order. First, we have new roaming cats now. I've seen a healthy-looking charcoal grey cat hanging around our fence lately, short-haired. S/he runs from me, though. There's also a mostly white cat with a grey spot on her head, and a dark tail. S/he doesn't come to me, but doesn't run too far, either. And sadly, there seems to be another young feral or semi-feral, not looking well-fed, who does run away very quickly when s/he spies me. This was the one that was up on our fence a couple of weeks ago, in the evening after it was dark. Very yeowly. I have seen Carla, the white cat that Nicki despises; she's been hanging around too. And once in a while we see (or hear) Monty, the Siamese. I really wish people would contain their cats safely or keep them indoors, but....Shrug. It's not for me to tell people how to take care of their companion animals. As for other cats, I meant to post these pics o...
