Musings on a Small Life

Gaahhh, we have FAR too much snow, FAR too early for this time of year! We've been spoiled in recent years, with snow, melt, snow, melt. How much of this will melt in a week or two is debatable, given we have more of the white stuff in the forecast this week.   It snowed all Saturday and Sunday, the pics below are from Saturday morning, on the way to my acupuncture appointment:     The pics weren't out in the wilderness (ha), but taken in the park across from our main mall and down the hill from one of the libraries. It's a lovely bit of green space amidst the apartment buildings, condos, businesses, and general bustle.   This morning, having slept a bit longer than normal, I forced my sluggish body into winter layers and out into the minus gazillion temperature, for an "EMT" (early morning trudge) rather than an EMW*   *copyright Angel Madi's mom   As long as it's not windy, and I'm sufficiently bundled up, it's quite lovely to be out so early, ...

This will be a random, muddled post, interspersed with pics!   First, I'm living in a province run by a court fool and his entourage of fools. Unbelievable . I don't have words to use that I can publish that would adequately reflect my anger at the provincial government's utter mismanagement of the this awful third wave we're in. He and his cronies are an EMBARRASSMENT . I only regret it's not an election year, because humans have notoriously short memories and if we're past the pandemic by then, many will have forgotten. Or perhaps, instead of the $1 beer he campaigned on last time (and which was a huge flop after the fact, btw), he'll campaign on 50 cent beer. You know, rather than on bringing in paid sick leave so all the people slogging at minimum wage jobs who get sick can actually afford to stay home, rather than go to work and spread the virus. We had wet snow this morning, and for part of the day. (It's a slushy mess now.) I had popped out for a quick Starbucks run before work hours, and walked through the swamp on the way home.   It was pretty; great for a few snapshots! (Click to enlarge them.)     We're slated for rain this weekend, a "Texas low," apparently, so the slush won't stick, at least not this time. Soon enough. I console myself by the fact that we're very close to the Winter Solstice, after which we'll begin to regain daylight, and also by the fact that we're one day closer to Spring. :-) My "boss" knows where to hang out to stay warm, above. I usually have my little heater on in the mornings in the home "office," because the room is so cold and my back is to the window. (The room is very small, as all the bedrooms are, and there's isn't sufficient space to move the table anywhere else.) Anyway, Derry and I will remind you to please take our holiday e...

We had about 10 cms of snow overnight Wednesday, so I took my little point and shoot to work with me yesterday and went for a walk at lunch time. Fresh snow makes everything, even the mundane, look like a magical winter wonderland!   This is Bella Most of it will disappear now with the milder temps and rain that's in the forecast. It's been a strange winter so far! Anyway, happy Friday! It's a short work week for me, but after the holiday break, even three consecutive work days feels looooonnnng.   Peace.

It's been snowing here all day, so I took a walk over to the adjoining building at lunch time, camera in hand. All indoors, no going outside, thanks. Snapshots taken through the (dirty) windows, and yes, it really was snowing that hard. (Click to enlarge and then scroll through.) I spied two dogs (with their humans in attendance), having a great time over in an athletic Field. I was at full zoom, through the window and the driving snow, so they just look like dark blurry blobs. However, you can tell they were having a lot of fun!  Back in our suite, below.
