Since the weekend was uneventful, I'll just post some pics of Sidbrook Hospital in Cobourg, taken with Robin when I was visiting a couple of weeks ago. From the web site jermalism : "This Victorian villa was built in 1857 as a two-story summer house for the Cobourg Railway Director. Modifications were made to the house in 1867, including roof alterations and the addition of the west wing. The third floor was added in 1900, along with the Beau-arts Corinthian portico with balcony and Corinthian porch. "It wasn't until 1952, when the 95 year old building became a private hospital. "50 years later, in 2002, Sidbrook Private Hospital closed its doors." Robin recently mentioned that now there are two large "NO TRESPASSING" signs on the property, but even if they'd been there when we stopped, we likely would have traipsed around anyway. Taking a break from last week's snapshots, here are a few snapped "in the morning light". Comments are off, have a lovely weekend! When I visited Robin and Chuck last week, our first stop was to see the goats behind Reid's Dairy in Belleville. You've seen pics of them before, and some of you will have seen Robin's recent pics too, but no matter. There's no such thing as too many landscape, floral and critter snapshots in my books.   They weren't budging from their comfy spot for us (and there was no feed to give them), but they certainly did budge for the young woman who came out with their breakfast.    I presume they have to be fed apart so one doesn't gobble down the other's grain.   I worked up my courage to ask the young woman what becomes of the goats, whether they're slaughtered or not. Breathe easy, folks, they're not. They're rescued goats, if I remember correctly, as are the other goats at the owner's farm. (Robin, please correct me if I'm wrong on that.) In fact, this will be the first winter that the owners will try to have the goa...

First, thanks to all for Nicki's birthday wishes! He got lots of extra treats and cuddles yesterday, as well as lots of napping time. His gift from Derry? A tussle session on my bed!                     Nicki did cry "uncle" first, but who can blame him, after being so rudely interrupted from his nap time? Now, here's Louie, the sweetest boy you'll ever meet, and one of the volunteers who run the Northumberland Humane Society Thrift Shop in Cobourg. He's a wonderful greeter!  :-) Apparently he had been left on their steps a few years ago, but has settled in quite nicely, loves people, hates dogs. He has a namesake stuffie, not for sale, and one of the customers put it down beside him. Of course I quickly snapped a pic! First, a very happy birthday to Nicki (a.k.a. The Nickster, Tricky Nicki, Snickerdoodle, Mr. BratNick), who celebrates his 10th birthday today (give or take a week or so). Curled up after breakfast this morning. I hope he celebrates many more birthdays with me, though it's always in the back of my mind that I've not had a cat live past 10 - 11 years (Annie). So I intend to appreciate every day we have together! Now for a little llama love!  :-) Posted with permission, Robin getting a llama kiss. We stopped at this farm stand the first time to take snapshots, the second (on the way home) to buy goodies. They have llamas and chickens, as well as a rooster.   There's a reason for the expression "cock of the walk".
