Passings. . .
Tom Dryden is...was...my mother's cousin. A distant cousin of mine too, of course, though I met him only once a few years ago. He was quite the character, a real shit disturber -- but not in a malicious way. A joker, with a very big heart. Even meeting him only the once, that much was evident to me. He passed away yesterday morning, after being diagnosed two months ago with pancreatic cancer. He and his family have been in my thoughts every day, as I've asked the Universe for mercy, so though it's terribly sad, it's also a relief that he now is free from suffering.

July 20, 1938 – April 28, 2009
After a courageous battle with cancer and accompanied by his family, Tom passed away in Montreal. He is survived by the loving members of his clan: his wife Céline Levaque; his daughter Natalie Vann , her husband Lex and their children Danielle and Nicolas; his son Andrew, his wife Geneviève Garneau and their children Maxime and Samuel, his daughter Martina and her daughter Caitlyn; and his daughter Clara; his sisters Annabelle, Alison and Noreen (Rick Cuciurean); his friends of many years Len Ruggins, Garry Thompson and Réjean Lemieux; his niece Debbie Beck, husband Patrick and three children; as well as his nephew Danny Munkittrick, wife Kathy and three children.
He was known and loved for his good heart, his caring ways and love of all things beautiful.
Tom’s 30 year career with Bell Canada was followed by 16 years of retirement.
Thank you to all the staff members at St-Luc Hospital who accompanied him every step of the way with dignity and outstanding professional care.
At Tom’s request, no funeral was held. A clan gathering to celebrate his life will take place later on this summer.
