Thirteen Years and Two for Two

Today is the 13th anniversary of my arrival in this city. I didn't even think of it until I was out and about on the bus, early of course, and passed a large sign that tweaked my memory. That's almost as long as I spent on the east coast. A few more years here and I will have surpassed that time, in fact. I don't feel particularly attached to this area; it's just a place. A pretty spot, true, but I don't think I'd be too upset if I moved--provided it was my choice to move and I was going to something better. But hey, right now I'm just content to be here, grateful for my job, the fur kids, the house, etc. And at my age, frankly, I don't want to uproot myself and start another life. Been there, done that. And I feel too old to do that again.

Moving along. No pun intended.

The two for two? Value Village! No, not a sale or special of some sort. I tried on two pairs of pants and both fit. Huh. What are the odds? I'd say I had a better chance of being struck by lightning or winning the lottery, but obviously that wasn't the case.

One pair is beige, fit really well, stylish, perfect length. They have two big back pocket flaps which "nicely" accentuate the wide rear load. The other pair is a taupe/brown colour and they also fit, though they need to be restitched (re-hemmed). There seems to be a bit too much fabric in the legs, which "nicely" accentuates the short legs and thunder thighs. But hey, beggars can't be choosers and all that. I have an odd shape, no matter how much I weigh, and finding pants has always been a problem for me. Plus I'm aware that I have this belief that I really don't deserve to look good because I'm so fat. No, really. Just me. Everyone else can look good, no matter their size, but I can't. Yeah, I know, it's totally illogical. But there it is. I'm not worthy of really nice, well-fitting clothes. What a bizarre belief.

So. I had a great shopping morning. Five hours on the go, from 7AM till noon. Wal-Mart again for a couple of things I forgot yesterday, Value Village, Liquidation World (found a few things there, actually), Dollarama, and then Pet Valu.

Now I have a load of laundry on the go, washing the V. V. purchases. Which included three warm sweaters for the office, because the air conditioning has us all freezing our asses off. Okay, one of the sweaters is sporting a winter scene, so I won't wear it during the summer. LOL. But the other two are fine, both cardigans.

I admit I'm loving having these few days off. I know it's not much, but oh, everyone needs a break. I suppose I would get antsy if I had too much time off--I do, over Christmas break. By the end of it I'm ready to go back. But right now, I'm just thrilled not to sit in the cube and stare all day at the computer screen, not to have to listen to everyone else's conversations, etc.

Once the laundry is done and I've finished my glass of wine, I think I'll crash for a bit, if I can settle down. I've been up since 3AM, thanks to Annie puking up a hairball, and I'm pretty much done for.

Tomorrow....I need to go to Global Pet Foods, need a few groceries, might hit HomeSense first, maybe check Zellers for something. I love being able to come and go at whim like this. (But, okay, Goddess/Universe/Fates, I also love being able to pay my bills and have a full-time job, in case you choose to misinterpret my statement. Not that I'm superstitious or anything. Nope, not a bit.)
