Dad's Visit: Day 7

Nicki was in and out pretty quickly at the vet. Yes, his anal glands were partially filled and needed to be expressed (gross), but fortunately there was no sign of infection. The vet also got a urine sample: Nicki's kidneys are still concentrating too well, meaning they will give out sooner than later. He still needs to drink more water....I had hoped that cutting the back dry by half and increasing the wet would have helped, but apparently not. *Sigh* It's always something. No more fur kids after this--or so I keep telling myself. The stress is just too much sometimes.

Anyway, after we brought Nicki home we ran around and did some errands: CAA for Dad, Rona to check on kitchen sink faucets, Costco to stock up on necessities, Wal-Mart for more kitty litter, and then Jysk to check a couple of pieces of furniture. The one piece I had thought would be great for a microwave stand turned out to be not as great as I had thought--I didn't like the top of it, it wasn't a smooth surface (bamboo). So no purchases there. Guess I'll have to wait till Dad comes back next year for another trip to Ikea.

The vet clinic called later in the day to let me know Annie's hyper-t meds were in, so we went out again around 5PM to pick those up, stopped at a drugstore for gloves (you can't get the meds on your skin because they are absorbed quickly, and in my case, with my existing thyroid condition, it's pretty important that doesn't happen).

And that's about it. A very quiet day, nothing exciting at all. It was grey and misty for much of the day, so no photo ops.

Not sure what we're up to today, probably just more errands. I think Thursday and Friday will be sunny, but I have to go to work tomorrow, so that eliminates one day of potential picture-taking, at least for me.

I don't find the time off to be relaxing; I'm too concerned about both Nicki and Annie. And I feel badly for Dad because I'm not exactly the life of the party, so this visit isn't particularly entertaining for him. :-/
