Sunday
Dinner's in the oven: roast chicken, potatoes, yams, will cook some peas. If there's enough fat in the roaster, I'll even attempt gravy.
I can't believe it. LOL.
But Loblaws had a special on little roasting chickens yesterday and I couldn't pass it up.
Oh, by the way...Don't make your apple crisp while yakking to your mother on the phone, otherwise you could forget one simple yet key ingredient: the flour to combine with the apples, sugar and lemon juice. So yesterday's apple crisp came out more like sliced, baked apples. Oops. Still good, just not apple "crisp." Oh, well!
I did venture out this morning, with the idea that I'd walk to Starbucks at Chapters and have a chai. Huh. I got as far as the train station and turned around; it was freezing! A cold northeast wind was blowing and though I was dressed warmly, I just didn't have the motivation or energy to continue on. I did notice that the beavers have dammed up another part of the swamp. (Pic below.) That's recent, I think, because I walk that way fairly frequently and haven't seen this new dam. No sign of any beavers, though.
And other than that short, 45-minute jaunt, I've spent the morning cleaning, doing laundry, and moving furniture around in my bedroom yet again. I put the bed on the longer wall, facing the window (which I didn't want), but will leave it as it is for the winter. It's not a bad thing, to have the bed away from all outside walls during the coldest months of the year.
I also switched bureaus--put the taller one into the guest room and moved the shorter one into my bedroom, next to the bed. Whatever. It's tough to juggle things around in a small room!
Now I'm just waiting for the chicken to do its thing....There will plenty, come on over for dinner. :-)
