Apparently I'm "widely" known

Okay, maybe not "widely," except in relation to my butt, but at least somewhat known in my neighbourhood.

I was walking to Kingston Centre this AM, camera in hand, and stopped to take a few pics of roses now in bloom along someone's driveway. An older woman lives in the house, nice lady, I've chatted with her once before a couple of years ago, though she wouldn't remember.

Well, I was kneeling on the ground, camera in close for macro shots, and I heard her door open. Looked up and said hi, that I hoped she didn't mind. Of course not. But apparently people on the street are aware of my photo-taking and have asked her about me. Why her in particular, I have no idea.

Yikes, was my thought! I'm usually doing this early in the AM or after work and it never occurred to me that people would take notice. But apparently they have. This lady asked me if I was a student. (I carry a fairly large backpack and I was some distance away from her, otherwise she'd have seen I am getting close to 50. LOL.) Nope, I told her, I work full time at our university, take pics for mental therapy. I ought to have given her my first name, didn't think of it till it was too late.

So now I feel like I'm some anomaly, taking floral snapshots. Really, lots of people must carry cameras almost daily and get down on the ground to take pics...right?

Anyway.

Regarding the fence: "Gary" (clean-cut, 30-something) showed up before the 6PM appointment yesterday, point in his favour. I told him I appreciated it. Gary and his girlfriend have 2 (indoor) cats, point in his favour. He grew up with dogs and cats in the household, in fact.

He was there for about half an hour, has a specific idea, has priced it out. I won't go into details here, too long. If I go with him, I'll take pics of the process. I could get this done for around $700 or so, if his idea is viable.

"Kevin" is supposed to come out this evening; he did call me yesterday. His idea is pretty much the same as Gary's, but we'll see what he says when he' sees the back space in person.

"Steve" can come sometime next week to take a look. I'll see if he has any different ideas.

So that's where I am with the fence! More to follow, I'm sure.  :-)

The woman's 40-year old roses. Almost as old as me!

Those roses are 40 years old? They're lovely!! Wow. And so fresh and beautiful and young-looking (like us - ahem!). But seriously!! they're gorgeous - well done that lady for looking after these beautiful roses. You can tell her that your fans who love your pics are enamoured with her roses and want more pics.

Fame at last!! :-) Awwww I think it's lovely how she thought you were a student! :-) I'm guessing she's lived there the longest hence the neighbourhood asking her about you.

And you can also tell your neighbours that they have the most gorgeous flowers and kitties on show on your site!

Ooooh we like Gary. Good luck with Kevin but it's always good to find someone who knows about living with indoor kitties.

I have everything crossed that there will be positive results from these blokes!

Take care

The more I think about Gary's idea, the less viable I think it is. Okay, not in fact, but in material he's suggesting he uses--Virola plywood. Problem: It's meant for interior use, can't see it standing up to weather. Also, it's wood, so even with a smooth surface, I fear Nicki would be able to get his claws in and get over.

I have to give this more thought. Will see what the other two guys say, when they see the fence and I talk with them. Not sure about Kevin this evening, as the skies are threatening rain and maybe more thunder.

And...not any frost or bug damage. Great! (The foxes wouldn't be so bad, if there weren't as many roosters wandering about!?!) Thanks for visiting my blog.
