Breaking in the new sneakers

I broke in the new sneakers today by doing the "block," the 12 km loop from my house, over to Portsmouth, along Bath Road, then Gardiners Road, down Princess Street and home via Counter Street. No real issues, just the usual foot pain, so the sneakers held up well. Took me 3 hours and 10 minutes, but that included a lot of stopping to take pics (gardens and wildflowers), a pit stop at Tim Horton's for an iced coffee to go, a peek into mattress store for a few minutes, and a break at a civic park for an oatcake (no sitting down, though).

That's only the fourth time I've done the entire loop in one shot and I just knew I could do it today without too much problem. I was fine for the first 8km anyway, it was only the final 4 that was a bit more difficult, foot-wise (nothing to do with the new shoes).

I took 93 snapshots, kept 54, so I have enough for a few days' posting, at least. Lucky you, out in blog land. (I'm being tongue in cheek.)

And since I left the house at 7AM, I was home in time to see Germany score their second goal against England, then England score their only one. (Sorry, Jenn!) Germany heads to the quarter finals now, and England is done. Gee, now I'm taking an interest in the World Cup. LOL.

I hope everyone is having a good Sunday, doing something fun/relaxing/exciting...whatever suits your mood.  :-)

 More roses.
Daisies are one of my favourites. Okay, all flowers seem to be my favourite!

We will not SPEAK about the England game. Not speak!!! LOL!! Aww but Germany deserved their win - they were controlled, disciplined and worked as a team. Oh well c'est la vie!!!!

So glad you're getting into it - me I'm rooting for the underdogs all the way (Ghana, Japan, S.Korea). They don't stand a chance but you never know!! LOL!

But I love your pics!!! I always look forward to seeing your pics cos they're so pretty and clear and totally amazing. The detail you show in each shot... amazing!!! Carry on is what I say!!! LOL!

Did you walk in the rain??!?! (Rain drops on the flowers - sweet Nico taking shelter!) Good for you!! 3 1/2 hours even with breaks is fantastic. Glad your sneakers held up well!

Aww and what a sweet pic of Nico! He is adorable!

I think you deserve some adult beverages now. :-)

take care

My walking is to my car, from the car to the store, around the store, back to my car and back into the house, so YAY for you getting out there! It's too humid here to do anything remotely like that!

Did I miss something? Is your new fence Kitty-Houdini-proof? Inquiring minds want to know!

Once again a lovely treat to see all the beautiful florals!

Glad the sneakers were a success for you.

Barb, so far the fence modifications are proving to be Nicki-proof, though I won't assume he'll never figure a way out. LOL.

Old Kitty, no, I didn't walk in the rain, though it had rained yesterday/overnight. It was mostly a foggy walk, though, which was great temperature-wise. :-)

Oh, I love walking; walk a lot too. My work is near one of the many beaches in Melbourne, and I love walking in that sea smell. Absolutely love water- rain, beach, fountains, creeks, rivers...

Take care, Kea. I'm flying out tonight, but hoping to see your new posts popping up anyway :).
