Words of Comfort
I appreciate everyone's comments yesterday. It's hard for me to let it all go, emotionally and mentally, even though I did what I felt was best at the time, with the information I had. What encouraged me a little bit was the woman behind House of the Discarded Cats telling me I did the right thing. Whether or not that was the case I'll never know, but I particularly appreciated those words from someone who rescues on an on-going basis.
Fingers crossed for this young mancat, because he'd be very adoptable. Particularly being already neutered and microchipped. Declawed is a plus for some, though of course not in my books.
I've lit a candle for him at Gratefulness.org and asked Goddess Bastet to take care of her child--and all her children.
And now I want other options, if ever in that same situation again.
I don't want to leave a cat to slowly starve (especially with our harsh winters), yet I don't want to take another Being to that "humane" society ever again. Which, sadly, I've said once before. "Never say never," Harris Miller, my grade 8 English teacher used to say.
It was suggested that I put a notice up on Craigslist, to network for people who are involved in cat rescue, which I've done. Without any expectation of a response. It's a long shot. So is the notice I added to Kijiji. Fingers crossed for contacts via Global Pet Foods.
Kingston is small city, true, but you'd think I could find others of like mind, particularly when I know there are those out there fed up with how our local shelter is run, its policies, etc.
And now I will drop the topic, as I'm sure the few who read this blog are sick of it. Thanks for bearing with me.

One of my hostas, almost in bloom
I have no idea what kind of flowering plant this is. Any guesses?

So thank goodness for you being there and thank goodness for the people you spoke to - hopefully the networkig stuff will come to the rescue in the future! GOOD LUCK!!
I am GREEN with envy at your hosta flower! My goodness that's amazing! And your echinacea (sp?) and white daisy type flowers are beautiful. The flower with the bell shaped petals is lovely - is it a lilly of some sort? It's very delicate anyway!
Have a lovely Monday Kim - take care
