I have hope for better work energy!
I got to the office just before 7AM, as usual. Thought I'd better start consolidating our files and supplies, because there isn't room for all the cabinets we currently are using. And frankly, when we moved into our space two years ago, I didn't bother organizing things very well. Always thought I'd do it later, but later never came.
So a couple of hours this morning was spent doing just that, and I whittled our must-move cabinets down to four. This is for the general office stuff, mind you, not our own files.
Then, since one of my co-workers was moving everything up today, including her computer, I thought why wait? We made use of a dolly we found in the unused and inoperative "phone" room (tiny closet-like space) and hauled boxes, computer equipment, and furniture upstairs with it (yes, the building has an elevator!).
So, after about 5 hours of physical labour (which felt fantastic, actually), my entire cube space, minus one very heavy file cabinet I couldn't move, is up in the new area. Even the bookcases, which I emptied and then carted on that dolly. Now, things aren't entirely set up in my new cubicle, but I did get the computer and peripherals hooked up again. My jungle (all my real plants as well as the silk floral arrangements) are in place.
Things are still chaotic up there, however, and a lot of furniture needs to be moved out and/or juggled.
As for our current, almost-former, office space, the movers come on Monday to take everything else, which is all the general office cabinets, boxes still to be packed, my boss's office in its entirety (bookcases still to be packed by me) and another co-worker's office.
But I'm glad I didn't wait. I can't tell you how much I loathed that dark, cramped space. We were stuffed in there like sardines, barely room to turn around. Even though I'm still in a cubicle upstairs, it's lighter and airier, with the highest ceilings in the building. There is far more space between my cube and the adjacent one, and all my co-workers now have offices. Some of us are really hoping this will mark a turn for the better in terms of our work energy. Because the energy has been quite negative for the two years we've been jammed into that tiny area.
I meant to take my camera to get pics of the move, the chaos, and the new space, but I forgot. I'll try to do that for Monday, even just to send the pics to my mom and dad.
God's teeth, I'm so happy to be out of that space!

I remember when we moved from one floor in the building I used to work in to another. Our space was cut in half.We went from oversized (old fashioned wooden desks) to cubicles. It was not good in one way and perfect in another. I was the last co-worker in the office so my desk sat right in front of the office microwave. I cannot tell you how awful that was, and I do literally I sat right in front of it.
So I hope Monday proves to be really good!
So I am super duper duper glad that you will now have room to breathe. Morale must be on the up!! About time too!
Well done you for moving and packing and doing all that hard work!! I hope you have lots of chocolate chunk cookies and passion fruit extract and a sip or two of adult beverages!! Take care and well done again! Yay!

Hoping Monday now will not be so daunting.
I love the pumpkin man photo :)!
