Not Quite the Real Thing

I'm trying some gluten and corn-free baking products, because wheat, even processed as white flour is, seems to be causing me difficulties these days (years).

So while at the Evil Empire this morning (Wal-Mart), I found this:
When I got home, I made them up (you can add what you want to the cookie dough, so of course I added dark chocolate chips).

The consistency isn't the same as my yummy chocolate chip cookie recipe, and the batter does spread far more than my traditional recipe.
They're okay. Not great and far too sugary (!) for my taste. I probably wouldn't buy the mix again, will keep looking for something that I like or print off gluten-free recipes that I find on the web. I did try to make a gluten-free biscuit yesterday, cobbled together from the biscuit recipe I typically use, but wasn't that impressed. Again, okay, but not great. I do have a couple of gluten-free (specifically) biscuit recipes that I can try, though.

And while at Wal-Mart some wool caught my eye, bought these two balls. So I guess I'll be knitting another unneeded scarf--something to keep my hands occupied, rather than using them to eat cookies.
One last thing for today: The 2nd Annual World Wide Moment, to purr, pray, meditate, send Light to all non-human Beings in need and to remember those who have passed on. It takes place at 11PM GMT, which is 6PM EST. Please join in!

I know how hard it is to NOT have the real thing...I can't drink milk, and I adore ice cream and yogurt. Soy substitutes are Gross!

You know, that's lovely yarn...you could knit things for autions...just a thought!

The biscuits look yummy from here!! When I saw the finished product - I thought wow!!! It's like the picture on the pack!!!!

I hope you find a nice gluten and corn free mix - this find is a start - I mean I think I'll be hard pressed to find a gluten free pack like this in my local supermarket. I'll have to go to an organic health food shop.

I love that you knit!!! I wish I could knit!!! Will we see the finished product?!?!?!? :-) Take care

The wool looks great and it will make a super scarf. I can't knit either ~ I have tried and I was hopeless!

I knit too. I have a friend who often says, 'how old are you again, eighty-three?', whenever this topic comes up. I always was old, I guess.
