All Packed Up and Put Away
I had the tree and all the decorations taken down and packed away for another year, the vacuuming done, by 6:15AM.
Originally I had intended to leave the tree up till later in the week, but it's -20 something Celcius today, with the windchill, and I really, really don't feel like going out. So I'm using the day to tidy and clean. The temps are supposed to be warmer for the rest of the week, so I'll venture out then.
Derry, silly boy that he is, seems to love the icy weather and has been out several times so far this morning (it's only 7:45AM right now). I've had to call and call and call him to get his furry ass back in the house. Crazy cat. Mind you, he does have a thick layer of fat for insulation!
Oh, did I go out yesterday for Boxing Day sales, you ask? Well, actually, I did! I left the house at 7AM and walked in the bitter windchill to RioCan Centre, which is a box store complex about 4 kms away. First stop: Starbucks for a short non-fat vanilla latté -- a much needed shot of caffeine.
I steered clear of Best Buy, which was packed (and I heard there was a line up of about 500 people at 5AM, waiting for the 6AM opening) and instead went to Jysk (only because they were opening just as I was passing by, at 8AM) and Michaels Crafts.
Normally I don't see anything worthwhile at Jysk (pretty cheap and cheaply made), but they had storage baskets on sale, really good prices, so I bought a few. No such things as too many storage baskets, IMO. Ditto at Michaels. I went for wool -- I had seen some before Christmas, but it was too expensive -- and also found a couple more storage baskets. They had 50% off all their wicker baskets, the wool was on sale, and I had a coupon for an additional 25% off the entire order. So I got 7 balls of wool and the baskets for a really good deal.
I went out via bus later too, because I was wired from the caffeine and couldn't stay in the house, but only picked up a few drugstore necessities, then walked home. That was enough. I really need to find more comfortable winter footwear that doesn't kill my feet.
So today I'm going to stay inside where it's warm, maybe even go back to bed or have a nap later. I've yet to do that this holiday!

Oooh I fancy a shot of caffeine just now!
Actually - we had an affordable outdoors shop here in my little high road of shops - so handy for getting walking socks and fleece and all things practical and I did think I do need a good pair of walking boots and maybe some ice-grippers given the current weather but last week to my horror - I found that they've closed to be replaced by a... BOUTIQUE shop!!! I mean we have SO MANY exclusive boutique shops already - do we serioulsy need another one? And where on this god's green earth will I be able buy affordable walking shoes now!?!? LOL!
and this now defunct outdoors shop was gonna be my first stop for the sales too as last year they held a great sales!
-20 degrees?!?! It's +4 here and I'm frozen! LOL!

I didn't poke my head out yesterday nor today. I am going to wait until tomorrow to go see what sales there is and what needful things I might need! :)

I only have to unplug the trees and put them back in their boxes...but will do that next weekend. I still like looking at the lights.
Can't believe it's all over!
The days are going so fast... I'm already sad that the holidays will be over in just a few days now.

i'm glad to hear of your sales finds. cheaper than therapy as they say:) adn aching feet, ouch, that's really a priority good for your feet shoes, essential. been there with crap shoes (not that i knew it at that time) and i've been paying for it since despite having good shoes only these days.
hope the new year brings very very good shoes for you!!
