Waiting Always Is Hard!

I took Annie in early, but they weren't busy, so while I went to a nearby coffee shop for a cup of Darjeeling tea, they got her urine sample, the blood for a full panel (including the T4), got her armpits and chest shaved and her claws clipped. I had a list of items/concerns, had said if she needed sub-qs to go ahead, but they either forgot or she didn't need the fluid. She has lost weight since her previous recorded weigh-in (last winter); she's down to 7.6 pounds, so she's lost about half a pound.

Now comes the waiting. They vet clinic is open only until noon tomorrow, so I'm not sure if I'll hear anything before the new year. I'm scared to talk to the vet, frankly. Afraid it will be worse than I'm imagining...and my thoughts aren't happy happy joy joy right now. But c'est la vie, as the expression goes.

I appreciate the comments very much, so appreciate the understanding and support.

I think the best I can hope for is that it's early stage CRF, manageable for the time being with a change of diet and a renal support supplement. I don't want to hear anything worse than that.

So after I brought Annie home I headed downtown with my camera, needed a distraction. I got lots of shots of the windmills over on Wolfe Island, and a slew of duck pics. What else would I take? LOL. I'll get around to posting some of those another time.

Today, here are a few more snapshots from yesterday's walk in the conservation area.

There's a private farm at the airport entrance to the Point; they keep sheep. I covet their land!
I don't know if they still use this old tower, doesn't look like it!
Someone decorated this tree at the parking lot adjacent to the airport property (there are two entrances to the Point--this and the one at Rotary Park by the marina).

Fingers and paws crossed for Annie, and for you not to drive yourself nuts waiting! In the meantime, give that old gal whatever she wants to eat. I feed Kona separately, as she's a slow eater and she's been doing better...I feed her in the bathroom when I shower and she gets a little special time with "Mommy" and eats at her own leisurely pace. My Deaf boy Chuckles lived for years with advanced CRF, it's amazing how resilient Cats are. The fact that Annie feels good enough to raise hell in the middle of the night is a very good sign, indeed!

Do NOT fret the rest of your Holiday away! That's an order.

It's hardest to do the waiting, because your mind has a tendency to just make things veer to the worst scenario. It's so hard not to...but I was encouraged that she had lost 1/2 pound. When there is any change it is not easy. But I will continue to hold out HOPE that the bloodwork comes back better than anticipated. Dear Annie is a girl who can hold her own! But Mom Kim we all will keep you in our prayers.

Hi, Kim..Tom here, enjoying my visit to Annie's blog and yours as well. What beautiful photographs!

Julie says..I was reading Annie's blog and discovered yours as well. I have been trying to get to everyone who left such caring words on Tom's blog regarding Vinny. I thank you so much for being there for us and I hope and pray things will be okay for Annie. I read your poetry and words on the loss of Chumley. I totally and completely have been there with my Tom and Vinny. I remember other sweet cat friends who saw me start my life on my own and comforted me during ups and downs, just as Chumley did for you. Kim, you weren't alone then and you're not alone now in your time of worry and concern. Prayers and hugs go out to all of you!!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed- for Annie and for you.

My little one has a weak kidney too- along with his other gastrointestinal issues (pancreas, bile duct etc etc)... there has been some diet changes- for life- but it is doable, with a little bit of extra love and effort... one of them follows the other.

Please keep us posted about Annie's health... I know I am doing a terrible job of posting and commenting, but I am reading- each and every post; and I'll be waiting to know.
Oh we are sorry to hear Annie has not been well. Our Yoko has had similar symptoms - losing weight with a voracious appetite and she is borderline hyperthyroid and kidney failure but we give her natural supplements and she is doing fine. Purring for Annie and I can give you some suggestions if this is her diagnosis.

I know how it is waiting but this is the day before I commented on your latest but it just tears us cat moms up to go through this.

Annie...much love, baby. Kisses.
