I liked guy #2 from Rona, but...

...he can't replace my bathtub because he's not a licensed plumber and could run into a lot of trouble (along with Rona) if something went wrong. It's not that he doesn't have the skill do it, it's the legal issue. He also doesn't do vinyl flooring (just tile floor), so I'd have to go through Rona's floor department (or someone else I hired) for that. He could do the tub surround, toilet (which doesn't need replacing), and vanity, though.

So if Rona doesn't have a plumber who installs tubs, they'll have to refund my $50 charge for the estimate. And if they do have a plumber they call on, he'd have to come out and give me an estimate on the tub alone, I imagine.

However, this guy (I really liked him) does do kitchen cabinetry, and he left me his card in case I decide to replace the cupboards at some point. Which also badly needs to be done.

So we'll see what the handyman says when he drops by later...assuming he does make it and doesn't have to reschedule.

Right now I just want that freaking leak fixed. I'm thinking someone should tear out part or all of the built-in bookcase in the spare room that backs onto the bathtub wall, cut an appropriate hole in the dry wall, fix the leak, and make an access "door" for future need. (Thanks for the idea, Dad.) And then turn that built-in bookcase area back into the closet it was initially.

BTW, when I have no more fur companions, I'm going to rent again. Or so I say now. LOL.

Oh shame that this second guy couldn't do your plumbing!!! But still at least he can do other stuff later!!!

Did the handyman turn up? Your dad's idea sounds really drastic but if it works, it works!!!!

I remember when I had to move out of my previous home asap with 2 furkiddies, I made a huge amount of phonecalls to rental agencies but made hardly any rental house visits! That was becuase while there were plenty around in my rental budget, all I had to say was I come with two kitties and it was a no asap. LOL!!!

Anyway!!!! I hope the handyman turns up!! Take care
