Friday Farrago
Yeah, okay, I had to look at the on-line Thesaurus for a synonym for "miscellany" that began with the letter "f."
But I'll remember what "farrago" means now!
So, I haven't really started any diet changes per se, and already I can see that trying to eliminate starch altogether is too restrictive. I think I'll see how I do on limiting my starch intake and going gluten-free as much as possible. I've had protein at all three meals today and I feel like I've over-dosed on it (eggs, pork, fish). Then again, I normally tend to graze all day, not make "real" meals for the most part.
I also think I need some sort of menu plan. You know: chicken on such and such a day, fish on another day, etc. I'm not good at menu planning because I despise cooking. How wonderful it must be to enjoy it, to find it relaxing, not an agonizing chore. Hmm, maybe a glass or two of wine while I'm cooking would help with that. LOL.
Oh, I found this gluten-free "featherlight rice flour mix" yesterday:
3 cups rice flour (brown or white)
3 cups tapioca flour
3 cups cornstarch
3 TBSP potato flour
You just combine them all and store it, use it in place of regular flour, I presume. Some comments indicated that recipes they'd tried with it were drier than normal, so when I try this, I presume I'll have to fiddle around with the recipe's liquid.
As for other things, gees, I feel like a bad cat caretaker. Everyone wants a piece of me, and often when I get home I just want to "cave" for a while. Seems crazy to think that someone who lives alone with only two cats (plus two outdoor cats clamouring for attention) would find it hard to have a moment's peace and quiet, but sometimes that's so. And like a typical "mom," boy do I feel guilty for not giving them all the attention they want, all the time. Especially Niko, the neighbour's cat, who just wants a lap and cuddles. He likes to crawl up on me when I sit on my front step and tuck his head into the crook of my arm. Poor Niko. I just can't give him all that he needs and that failing on my part makes me feel lousy.
But at least it's the weekend. Tomorrow is a friend's birthday, so I hope to get together with him on Sunday to treat him to coffee/dessert. And of course the regular errands and life "stuff" need to be done. Too bad the cats don't have opposable thumbs. :-P
Happy weekend, everyone.
Universal Blessings and Light to All Beings.

I'm not so restrictive as such with mine but I do have to watch my cholesterol and fat and it's taken me a long long while to find foods I enjoy - and for me it's also finding the joy in home-cooking - cos then I can control what I eat!! I strongly suggest a glass or three of el vino to help you with your cooking. Yes, cooking is FUN!!! Truly!!!! :-)
Awww cuddles and hugs to Niko!!! Poor thing - what a total sweetheart!
Take care

Yes, too bad cats couldn't help a little more around the house. I'm thinking of tying a dust rag to Banjo's tail. ;)
Happy Weekend!

Have a good time celebrating your friend's birthday!
