Starch and Lactose-Free?

I'm thinking that this might the way to go, for my own optimal health and well-being, based on how I feel after eating certain foods. Namely all grain-based food like cereals (don't eat those now anyway), breads (even white), pastas, plus potatoes, sugar and dairy products. Huh. Doesn't leave much, does it? Maybe a bit of white rice, protein, veggies and limited fruit. The thought alone has me craving a home-made biscuit, still warm, slathered in butter. Bread pudding. Cookies, cakes.

Maybe a limited starch diet? If anyone is on a starch-free diet (I  know one of you is on a gluten-free diet), what do you do for sweet cravings? Seriously.

Anyway, on an entirely different note, please send up positive vibes for the safety of those you know, even via cyber-space, in the London, UK area and other areas where rioting still is rampant. Old Kitty comes to mind right away--I had checked in with her last evening and she was okay, though they had been sent home early. I'm sending out universal Light that she (and everyone else) stays safe, crossing my fingers for an end to the madness.

And if anyone does have starch-free meal and/or recipe suggestions, please let me know. Always bearing in mind that cooking is on par with cleaning up cat barf, as far as I'm concerned.  :-P

Thanks!

A few snapshots from yesterday.

This sunflower was very tall...and very top-heavy!
 Its smaller "sibling."
These were pretty, though I have no idea what they are.
Universal Blessings and Light to All Beings.

Awww thank you so much for thinking of me!! Let's hope for calmer times ahead! Dear oh dear!! Today (Wednesday) is definitely calmer than yesterday!!! So fingers crossed sense is now prevailing!

The beautiful flowers in your last two pics look like bell flowers? They're so lovely and I really like how you got a close up shot - so detailed and delicate!

Yay for sunflowers!!

Gosh - starch and lactose free?? Soya milk is lovely!! As are the soya whipped cream and things like that!! But I don't know any recipes!! Good luck with finding out more about this diet!

Take care

The white flower is a platycodon grandiflora---better known as Balloon Flower since the bud puffs up before opening.

Thanks for the ID, Vic!
*waves hand* I'm gluten free... I'm also working on refined sugar free (I put it back when I was told to take gluten out, because I can give up bread or I can give up chocolate, but both?? that's just wrong.

I was tested for food sensitivities and came up with a weird cross section of foods (almonds, vanilla, egg yolks) so I'm even more limited then you are.

There are a lot of great blogs out there to help you. There are a LOT of great recipes with coconut flour and almond flour (most require egg yolks so they are out for me at this point)

Do web searches for starch dairy free and you'll find a slew of them.

Every week I make a mix of onions (carmalized) with grass fed ground beef, red peppers and kale and split that up as my lunch for the week. I will often roast sweet potatoes to go with it, or some rice.

be warned though, if you are going to eliminate processed food, you are probably going to be on an extremely low sodium diet. I had to start using salt on everything to keep up my sodium. I'm using "Real Salt" or other sea salts (aka not refined)

I'm also staying far far away from Soy, since most of it is GMO and it is so refined in order to be edible. There is a movement out there that is growing that says soy is not the health food they claim it to be.

Well I'm ramblin. If you want, contact me I can tell you some more of what I'm doing.

My Mom and Dad just recently went veggie and are loving it! They do eat bread but bake their own out of hand made flour...

Scott and I just recently went very low carb; the first couple of weeks are hard (just like quitting smoking, your brain gets addicted to carbs) but there are TONS of internet resources for recipies, even baked goods. Non-GMO protein powder is our best friend.

We both feel great--the best part is my gut isn't gassy anymore! We both are happy about that.

There's tons of food out there, enjoy them! And you'll feel WAY healthier.

I'm doing the same thing. There are HEAPS of great blogs with great recipes (easy ones too).
The website I started with is
http://www.marksdailyapple.com
It's full of useful information.
The diet is easy because you are NEVER hungry - really, truly! And you will notice an improvement in your health as early as one week in.
The diet even allows you to have dark chocolate :-) Can't be all bad can it? :-)
Good luck and come visit me if you have any questions xxx

I have been on a one starch a day, sugar free, non dairy, high protein diet and feel so much better. My Dr suggests only one serving of whole grain a day and no sugar will go a long way! Are you trying to improve your health or do you have allergies?
I eat lots of veggies and eat small meals 5 times a day. Email me if you wan to hear what I am doing - to help my allergies.

I'm on a gluten free diet and have been for 10 years now. I eat dark chocolate when I get a sugar craving, but really, gluten free is not sugar free. For me, dark chocolate makes everything better. There are tons of great blogs with recipies out there. I've also been mostly dairy free for almost 2 years. It's easier that I thought it would be and feel much better. Soy milk is a great substitute.

I like diabetic jam etc as it's less fattening and tends to have fewer preservatives.
Beautiful sunflowers.

I feel much better when I take out grains/white things from my diet. Try to lessen the dairy as well. Difficult to eliminate them and I adore fruit.

Now, if I could quit the wine, that would probably really help.
