Hurry Up and Wait
There was a lot of "hurry up and wait" this morning, as I hung around hoping the Salvation Army truck guys would show up before noon. Finally I called around 11AM, to be told that they couldn't tell me when the guys would be here, as they didn't leave the store till 10:30. I wasn't impressed. I snagged a blank piece of copy paper and wrote, in bold marker, that I couldn't wait for them the entire day and that I'd donate to another charity, thanks very much. I fully intended to tape it to my door at 11:40 and head out for a few errands.
Of course, about five minutes after I wrote the note and got it all ready to be taped up, the truck arrived--at 11:20AM.
They took everything I had put aside for donation (no surprise, as everything was in excellent condition), including a large open shelving unit that had been in my garage since the spring. And I even managed to make my 11:50 bus.
I have a long list of errands for the weekend, things that I need to pick up before I head east. Only a few of which I managed this afternoon. A lot of prep for a mere few days. Activating the pre-paid cell phone I bought a couple of weeks ago is on the to-do list. You can tell how interested I am in it.
Coffee Sunday morning with a friend, then Sunday afternoon will be spent with another friend. I'm hoping to squeeze in an errand or two, to pick up heavier items, with one or the other, if they're willing (both have vehicles). Unless I manage to pull off a Super Woman feat tomorrow and am able to haul everything home on my own, in one shot.
Nah, not going to happen.
It might be a long weekend here in Canada, but somehow I suspect it's going to fly by, with little rest for the weary. Or is that the wicked?
Snapshots today snagged from my Fall 2007 album, because all I currently have are cat pics.
My favourite spot along Bath Road...
Though since then, two old trees have been lost.
Have a lovely weekend, everyone.

I have not a long weekend...rather...no weekend at all. I did manage to keep my 10th off. Thisclose to losing that one.
Know how you feel about waiting for the truck. I donated a very handsome piece of furniture to the Ecumenical Council..gorgeous still solid wood dinih=ng table and chairs. But they did eventually show up after I wasted the whole saturday morning waiting.
Thank goodness the Sally army arrived just in time!
Enjoy your coffee meet-ups with your friends - I hope they do help you out with the transport.
Take care
