Oh, the anti-climax
I was plugging away at my spreadsheet at the office yesterday morning when lo and behold there appeared the former co-worker who had spoken so unkindly to me about the care I was giving Annie back in February, the day before I had to let her go. Which happens to be 32 weeks today.
I had not seen her or spoken to her in the past almost-8 months and I think she only came up because she must have thought I was away--she was looking for another co-worker who happens to be on holiday this week.
So I simply said no, he was gone all week and that was that. No greeting, no chit chat, no pleasantries on either side.
And I found it all to be rather anti-climactic, in truth. Because for the past 32 weeks I've mentally cringed every single morning coming in to work, leery of running into her, not knowing if I would acknowledge her, and if so, what I'd say.
But reality was utterly impersonal, perhaps even more impersonal that if it had been a complete stranger.
And so that's that. All my stressing for nothing. Less than nothing.
Speaking of stressing, Derry made a very small pee clump in one of the basement litter boxes this morning and I went into full panic mode. I could feel my blood pressure soar, my gut turn over. But then he went upstairs to use the upper litterbox and when I cleaned it afterward, there was a large pee clump and his other business. I'm not sure if the pee clump was before or after the one downstairs--he likes privacy and I was doing stuff in the basement at the time he was in the litter box. It's entirely possible he was interrupted and went up to finish in peace and quiet, or that he had peed up there during the night and had only a bit in his bladder he felt he had to purge, after his big tusslling match with Nicki this morning. (BTW, Nicki likes to pee at the front of all the boxes, preferably in the left hand corner, though sometimes the right corner, so I usually can tell who's doing what.)
Nonetheless, I've made an appointment for both boys for October 6th to have routine blood work and urine analyses done, as well as to have their teeth checked. I'm seeing quite a bit of tartar on their few remaining teeth, so think they both will need a cleaning very soon. I hope no extractions. Really hope no extraction$.
But this all just brings home how unsuited I am, emotionally (never mind financially) to adopting again.
And to finish up on an upbeat note, here are more pics from the Halifax Public Gardens, from September 14th.
Here's the dahlia exhibit.
I hate to break it to you, but this still isn't the end of the Gardens or holiday pics. :-P

But only you can know what you can handle, so I'm not saying you should, just saying I'd let you adopt one of my fosters any day.
I agree with Connie - you are an ideal cat-mama.The critters need those of us who care (and you can never care too much 0. The animals we love (and even those we don't know personally) will break our hearts eventually, but it would be a terribly lonely world if we were unable to love at all, wouldn't it?
My Yoshi was at the vet yesterday for a dental, and to investigate a lump - which turns out is a cyst and nothing to worry about. Thank all the Gods! XXXOOO
Finding out Figgy has worms too sucked, so as a precaution, everyone gets wormer.
I've been a bit of an emotional wreck also...had a moment with McCheeky today that made me bawl.
Sending you many hugs.
