How stupid are our birds?!

Niko got another bird today!

At least he ate the head this time, so I had no doubt the poor thing was quite dead before I scooped it up into yet another plastic bag and tossed it into my garage.

But I really do have to wonder how dumb the birds are. He's declawed, for heaven's sake! I guess he's just a hunter-extraordinaire.

Derry's vet called this afternoon. As expected, the culture and sensitivity test came back negative. So there's nothing further to be done except finish off his pain meds. Which mostly have been ending up on my hand or on the counter anyway. I'm going to ask about Cosequin (for both boys, actually) when I'm there with Nicki on Thursday morning.

Derry's still peeing normally, but obviously this will be a "one day at a time" thing. I really hope he doesn't have another bout, but if he does, I'll be calling the vet pronto and we'll go from there.

Still lots of pics from Halifax, these were snapped at Historic Properties on September 15th, in the (what else?) dense fog.

Salty's is a well-known restaurant, been around for decades. Used to go there once in a while for dinner.
A clearer view of one of the Halifax-Dartmouth ferries.

I think the birds get 'drunk' from eating the fermented fruit off the trees and ground. I have so many hitting my windows! Crazy birds!

So glad the tests came back negative!!

Keeping our fingers and paws crossed!

Nice pictures Kim and so glad to hear that Derry's results came back negative and that he is feeling better. I will continue to to have him in my thoughts for good health.

Yay for Derry!! Awwwww - yes, it's best to take one day at a time - let's hope his last bout was a one -off! Go Derry!!!

Awww poor birds! I also think they return cos they have to really! They're pretty delicate, birds. I remember rescuing a sparrow (got hit by a car!)and he/she was so weightless - all feathers and wings, poor thing - and how this poor bird sort of collapsed in my hand - little head drooped, eyes shut - body went limp, but I guess it was me crying my eyes out (blowing air at his/her face) that woke the birdie up - cos it was ok after a few minutes and flew off!

I love the boat with the happy face and hat!! Yay!!

Awwww more special hugs for Derry!! Take care

you can often find cosequin online for way cheaper then the vet's office. I found it on amazon.com for half the price..

I'm so glad my cats pee/poop outside in private places, because I CAN'T check on them - I suspect it would make me crazy!
Poor little birdies - they stand no chance against the mighty hunter.
