Thankful Thursday

Maybe I ought to adopt this Thursday theme on my own blog, particularly since I'm not in the mood to blog much on the Fuzzy Tales site.

Just my usual winter "blahs," coupled with the anniversary of Chum's death, and of course the first anniversary of Annie's passing looming on February 16th.

So, for today, here's what I'm thankful for, in no particular order:
  • A decent full-time job with a great boss
  • An excess of food
  • A home of my own
  • Reasonably good health, I think. Hope. LOL.
  • The boys, who by times drive me nuts, but always give me a focus beyond my petty self.
  • Annie and Chum--they blessed me with their presence, even though I still keenly feel their loss.
  • Dark chocolate with caramel chunks.
  • Parents who still are alive and who love me.
  • That we have "only" 54 days till the Spring equinox on March 20th. God's teeth, I can't wait for GREEN again!
  • A coupon for a very small amount off the admission fee to the Canadian Cat Association National Show in February. This will be the third or fourth year I've gone (not till the end of Feb, though). The best part is the house cat judging, IMO. I'm not interested in any particular breed, but I love to see all the rescued cats who now are flourishing.
  • That tomorrow is Friday! Yay!
  • That my house de-cluttering is coming along well. I've always got a pile, or six, on the go for donation. Have no idea how I accumulate so much stuff when I'm not a collector.
Okay, that's enough.

No recent pics, unfortunately. How about three from January 26 and 27, 2008? Four years ago we had a fair bit of snow at this time, as Nicki's pic shows.

A glimpse of Annie in the old tent, well before her hyper-t diagnosis. She was very silly and playful when she still was healthy.
Nicki out in the snow, spying birds in the tree.
A slimmer Derry (lol), with his usual sweet expression.
I hope everyone has something for which to be thankful today.

Universal Blessings, Light and Mercy to All Beings.

That picture of Der is so cute!

It's good to think about what we're thankful for. For me, the month of March will be bittersweet.

I'll eat a couple dark chocolate turtles for you today :) My daily treat of chocolate and caramel.

    What a wonderful post!

I also feel that with each day we wake up relatively healthy we should feel a sense of gratitude. When health is an issue everything pales in comparison.

Oh no, Kim!! No, no, no!! Caramel?? With chocolate?? LOL! I'm kidding!! But no, I can't bear caramel! LOL! I remember yonks ago when my sister was still with her first hubby - how he blanched when I added lemonade to red wine - it was as if I had committed original sin and I was like - yeah I wouldn't be doing this if you'd brought posh wine instead of the cheapo one! LOL!

Anyway, moving on!! LOL! I am so happy it's Friday tomorrow and so happy for all that you are thankful for. Apart from the caramel.

    :-) Take care

I will never tire of seeing pictures of Derry's face, so so sweet.

I like your "Thankful Thursday" idea. Last year, I decided to take a similar approach in an effort to try to curb my despair, so I started a separate blog where my goal is to everyday name at least one thing I am thankful for. I try not to say the same thing everyday, which means some days are a real challenge for me. At the start of this new year I decided to keep up the practice. I think it helps me be less focused on the depression.

The Canadian Cat Assoc. National sounds like lots of fun. I need to see if there is anything like that around here. I know the big Average Joe Cat Show that my local amazing cat-only shelter puts on is coming up, I can't wait!

I had a really crappy day today. Thank you for reminding me that I have so many things to be thankful for. Sometimes we forget to remember this!

    Wishing you a beautiful weekend!

Yep, I have lots to be thankful too. And having furries in my life, even those that passed, is one.

    Have a great day.
