In the muck and mire

Just my leftover snapshots from yesterday's jaunt to Lemoine Point. The main paths were okay, the ones that are wheelchair accessible, but some of the other paths were pretty mucky. I had my winter hikers on, but even so I ended up turning back at one point, not able to go on without rubber boots.

Such is "spring" in our part of the world!

 The moss is doing well. LOL.

 Looking back the way I came.

 You can just see that the willow tree in the distance is starting to bud.

 In between two trails, i.e. not part of any path.

 The moss on the rocks caught my eye again. Really, moss was the only green happening!

 Some of the damage from one of the wild wind storms we had this winter.

The wood "feathers" caught my eye. It seems odd to me, to have something so innocuous catch my interest again. It's good, though. I'm glad I'm coming back to life. I hope Annie doesn't mind. I don't think she would.

Wish I could have been closer to Mr. Cardinal! No hope of getting a decent shot, especially since the camera focused in on the branches instead of the bird.

Here's where I gave up and turned back to a drier path. You can see that just beyond this spot the trail looks okay, but I just didn't have the waterproof footwear needed to get past this bit. Somewhat disappointing, because if you're going to see deer, it's often ahead on that trail.

 Passable, though a bit wet in spots. The trail runs on the right anyway, not through the water.

 I'm looking forward to coming back when the trees have leaves and the trilliums are blooming.

Passing the off-leash dog park at Rotary Park, heading out of the Point. Of course it was the reflection of the fence that caught my eye.

That's it, at last. More of the soggy conservation area than you ever wanted to see. LOL. Dad, it's a good thing you come later in the year, when the ground is dry.  :-)
