A Friday Off in Lieu of my B-Day

I took today off work, since the forecast was for sunshine and reasonably warm temps (about 13C/55F). Spent most of the day doing something I normally detest--slacks shopping.

It took trying on 22 pairs in 6 different stores to find 2 that actually fit, but that's better than not finding any. (And thank you, Dad and Mom and Harry, for the birthday money -- this time I didn't use it all for bills.)

Didn't I just do this, though? Slacks shopping, I mean. Maybe it was over the Christmas break. If I didn't have such a difficult pear shape, it wouldn't be such an ordeal. And it still was an ordeal when I was in my 20s and 30s and 30+ pounds lighter.

So I came home with a pair of black slacks, a pair of dark jeans, two short-sleeved blue print tops, a short-sleeved heavy-weight turquoise-ish top I'll wear as a little jacket, and the practical socks. All new and on sale, and at great buys.

Oh, and the dark chocolate Lindt Easter bunny, half price of course. Now half eaten.

I was good, came home and made myself a late light lunch, then wasn't good and ordered St-Hubert take-out chicken for supper, plus dessert. It's a new franchise in town (very popular in the province of Quebec) and though I've enjoyed the food when I've eaten it in one of their restaurants, some of it was cold when it arrived a bit earlier. At least the delivery charge was included in the price, so I didn't pay extra for that. But I won't be in a hurry to order from them again.

Oh, btw, who was on the bus with me this afternoon, coming home? My neighbour, the mom. I hope she didn't feel too uncomfortable--we certainly chatted easily enough, and I really do quite like her. She doesn't drive, though they have three vehicles. So she's stuck on public transit too, during the days.

All in all, a much more enjoyable day than my actual birthday, even if I did spend hours in the dreaded mall. At least I now have two labels to look for in slacks for the future, one in particular, so can go directly to the store(s) and thus cut down on time spent. Slacks and shoes--two items I just hate to shop for and only do when I absolutely must.

Tomorrow I get a hair cut, and Sunday I'll get together with a friend and his partner. Somewhere in there it would be nice to snap some floral pics, but I'm not sure I'll have the energy. LOL.

Happy Friday, everyone.

Sounds like a lovely way to spend Friday!
Glad you found some slacks that you liked. I think they are a challenge for every woman no matter her size.
Enjoy your weekend.

pretty kitties in the sun!

Your belated birthday gift sounds like it was a good one overall, that's great! Although clothes shopping on one's birthday doesn't sound like my idea of a good time! If I could drink, I would toast one in the honor of your recent birthday. never too late to party, party!!

Kim - what a successful day off. I need to go looking for more trousers soon, and keep putting it off. It is easier to buy tops, than pants.

Have a good weekend, and we hope you get some more sunbeams.

Yay for having a good day off and getting yourself a little something :)
I hate buying jeans...making sure they are long enough in the leg and aren't cut too high on my waist. Ugh.
