Monday Musings
I'm not sure where the weekend went, but here we are again, back to Monday. And half over for me at that, though I do have an afternoon meeting. I'm yawning already at the thought.
The weekend was quiet. Very quiet. So quiet I peeked outside yesterday to make sure the son really was home--yes, he was out riding his bike. No doubt they're tiptoeing around so I don't complain any further, and I'm tiptoeing around so as not to give them something to complain about. None of us (the adults, I mean) wants to be outside when the other is, so we all seem to be avoiding the other. Which isn't hard, given my early AM and early to bed schedule. They're late risers and if they go out at all on weekends, it's not till mid to late afternoon.
Of course I feel like the worst person on the planet for judging their (lack of) parenting and bitching out loud. (See? There I go again. It's so easy to do.) I try to tell myself that gee, even Jesus reputedly lost his temper. Maybe even the Dalai Lama has too, at some point in his life. And I'm far, far from either of their states of Being. LOL.
I wonder how they've managed to keep the boy quiet this past week. Proper medication? Whatever they've been doing, I'm curious as to why they've not been doing it before.
Whatever.
I didn't even crack open the can of paint to finish the pine buffet. I was out and about both days for errands, window shopping, etc. I even went to Value Village yesterday morning, got a blouse, a short-sleeved cotton tee-shirt and a couple of tank tops. I'd like some pretty blouses to wear open over various tank tops. It's always cold in the office, too cold to go with bare arms. But then it's too hot outside to be in a blazer or sweater. I'll keep hunting for bargains, since I actually wasn't impressed with the picked-over selection at V. V. yesterday.
Poppy snapshots taken last week, on the way to work.
On a cat-related note, I've noticed that lately Derry has become...weird about a couple of the feather wand toys. Will chase them, but then will grab the feathered ends and not let go, make odd meowing sounds...Honestly, I'm wondering if he's trying to uh, love these toys a little too much, if you get my drift. Though he doesn't actually make any motions. But he might be trying without knowing what to do. He pulls them away from me and won't give them up, sidles around with them, generally acts very strangely. This is something new and doesn't seem like play.
Anyone have ideas? Is he trying to hump the feathered toys? LOL. Crazy cat.
I hope everyone's Monday is getting or has gotten off to a good start.

Silly Derry. Johnson does that with his feather-butt balls, AND with Scouty, so it's hard to say if Derry is humping or just doing some toy moaning. Either way, as long as HE'S happy, that's what counts.
btw, thanks for posting the "Mark & Angel Hack Life" link--I love that blog and have passed it on to several friends.
As for Derry, he not only resembles Cody, but Cody behaves the EXACT same way. Cody always has. I think it is just their over-zealousness with feathers lol. Cody ALWAYS tries to eat them or run off with them.
As for Derry! I guess he's just obsessing about stuff that stimulates him! I know I'd be the same if I find something that gets my juices flowing - I'd hang on for sure! LOL!
Take care

I personally don't think you should feel bad about anything. YOU were on your own phone talking to your Mother, she eavesdropped. But, if it made them change something that is beneficial to all concerned that is wonderful.
Derry looks so happy.
Wish a feather toy was the key to happiness for all of us, wouldn't it be great if it was that easy? MOL
