She was back this morning

The little black girl was back this morning, with Toby, mewing softly for breakfast. No pics today. Toby wasn't inclined to give up his fish-flavoured canned, so she got the chicken. When I left for work Toby still was on my step, but she was long gone.

One day at a time with her.

There's nothing I can do for her right now, vet-wise, but if she keeps coming back, maybe I can get her into a carrier and get her the vet care she needs at the end of the summer or early fall, when the techs are not so booked up (at the clinic that did Toby's neutering for a discounted "barn cat" rate). Dad will be here sometime in September, with a rental car....I'm just throwing this out to the Universe, that I will be able to act for her Highest Good and the Highest Good of All Concerned.

To reply to a comment Rian left: No, she's not feral. Neither is Toby. I don't know where she comes from, but I suspect she was abandoned. I also think the same of Toby; he's been hanging around for a few years now. I first saw him digging in my garbage bags for food scraps, and so started putting cat food out. I had him neutered, thanks to the financial help of several bloggers, in May 2011.
On another note, I had a blissfully quiet day yesterday, though I wasn't home in the morning. But the neighbours left just before 9AM (I left a few minutes after, for the bus) to take the little girl to her grandmother's and by 9PM, when I was going to bed, they still weren't home. I have no idea what time they got back, but I didn't hear them come in. Next week they trade off: The girl comes home and the boy goes to the grandmother's. Yay!

The added bonus was that the mother and two kids two units down seemed to be gone too, so though I was working in the house most of the afternoon, it was absolutely, mercifully peaceful.

Nothing else of note at my end, so I'll leave you with a snapshot of Derry yesterday afternoon, enjoying the cooler temps. We're desperately dry, though--note the crispy weeds (a.k.a. grass).
Yes, I'm keeping calm and carrying on!  :-)

Poor little baby. It is nice of you to feed her for now.

Scout's little friend did not come by last night or if he did Scout did not wake me up to let him out to play with him lol. I think the cat is more my friend now than Scout's ha ha.

Nice pic of Derry
We cannot imagine just abandoning a family member. We are so glad they got you there. And we're glad your Dad will be coming to visit. It was always good when Daddy came to visit me.

Enjoy your day - it all sounds good.
