Back to "reality"

Not that I ever escape it. :-)

But back to work. And no, it wasn't "fun" to leave the house so early this morning.

Oh, btw, remember I put that critter deterrent plastic spike-thingy on my fence last week, to keep Toby off? Well, I'm sure it would work just fine if he were jumping up there, but no, he's getting onto the support struts. In fact, he was comfortably settled on top of one in the wee hours this morning, while Derry was lying out on the back step and Nicki was under the step.

Look at the far end of the fence, the part that joins the neighbours. See the (vertical) angled support the sheeting is attached to? That's where Toby was perched this morning. Yay, Toby.

I'm asking around here, if anyone knows someone who is experienced and patient with cats and would be able to give him a good indoor/outdoor forever home. It's a long shot, but you never know. I also emailed the boys' shelter, but I know I won't ever hear back from them. I don't want the shelter to take him, I want someone to fall in love with him. Someone who can take on his care, financially, emotionally and mentally.

As for non-cat matters, Dad just emailed me that he's booked his flight for September. He'll get in to Montreal late afternoon on September 11th and then likely drive here on the 12th. He'll be about a week, and he hopes to have his brother (who is flying from Italy to Montreal to visit his children and grandchild at the same time) take the train up and stay overnight here at the end of that week (likely around September 20th, give or take). Then they'd both drive (Dad already will have a rental) back to Montreal for the remainder of their trip.

Sounds good to me!

I've already got my "to do" list lined up, things that are better done (only done!) with a vehicle that is not a public transit bus. Including the shelter donation drop-off, with what will be only 27 or 28 (if I knit another) kitty blankets. Oh well! I'll do what I can do and let go of the rest.  :-)

And note to self: While Dad is here, do not buy anymore cheap, assemble-yourself crappy furniture from Jysk!

So that's where things stand for the moment.

I've had enough chocolate today to keep me calm, and certainly able to "carry on," at least till I get home.  :-)

Oh I so hate it when a long weekend public holiday is over - they go so quick!!

Yay for your dad coming over and your uncle too! That's brilliant! And I cannot believe it is seriously nearly September! Wow!!!

Oh Toby, Toby, terrific Toby!!! I hope and pray and hope and pray that someone will totally fall head over heels in love with him. If ever there was a kitty wanting - with all his gorgeous mind and heart - to be adopted, it's him!!! What a cutie!

Are those sunflowers?!?! My goodness they're tall!! Wow!

Yes, note to self - have more caramel and less Jysk furniture!! Yay! Take care

Hopefully someone takes Toby. I haven't seeen Mr. Peach since Sunday and he was coming by regularly for food so I think someone either took him in or to the shelter.

Wouldn't it be nice if someone said they'd like to love him. Dreams do come true sometimes.

Hope you visit with your Dad and Uncle is fun.

I wish my Dad were still here. I loved spending afternoons talking and having coffee. I still remember those moments the best.

Your sky photos are very pretty. I love clouds and the colors they bring with them.

..."not that I ever escape it". I do! Visit me at Bailey's Cove. It's only an escape from reality into 'your mind's eye'. But hey, you take what you can get, yes?

Good luck with a home for Toby and do have a wonderful time with your dad!
