Honey, I shrunk the curtains!

When I took my curtains down yesterday, along with the rod, etc., I thought it would be a great idea to throw them in the washer. They had been put up new out of the package, back in the spring, I think.

Anyway, I threw them into the dryer afterward, on delicate...and they shrunk 7 inches!

They used to sit on the floor and now look at them! Argghh!
I'm not that fond of the traditional look of them, but they're hidden tab panels, well made and were about $6 per panel some years ago (never opened, just tucked away for later use).
And I had to go and shrink them. LOL.

Anyway, here are some before pics of the window and patio door:

Very early yesterday, getting ready for the replacement:
There might be a cat behind the sheet....
Derry's hiding under the table. He and Nicki had fun, before I locked them up (separately).
During the process: The first old door pane is out.
 There goes the second pane.
Empty hole (old window still untouched, though).
Frame and first pane are in, the walls are not straight. LOL.
Both panes in and framed. I ought to have lightened the pics, didn't realize how dark they were until now.
 And the window's in too!
Finishing up outside. Notice the window has a screen! Yippee!
All done and I'm thrilled with it, hope he did a proper job (how would I know?). It looks great, though.
I'm amazed at how quiet and smooth the new patio door is. It's solid, but opens like a dream, I don't have to wrestle with it at all.

I let the boys out around 1PM and they certainly could tell the window and door were different! Of course the new ones would have all sort of smells, including the contractor's. But even in the evening, and this morning, Derry was wary of the new door, not sure he wanted to go through. LOL. He'll get over it soon enough, I'm sure.

I'm so glad I was able to get this done, am very thankful for both the new door and window!

Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the U.S. btw. Hope you have a wonderful holiday (and get lots of great Black Friday deals tomorrow, if you're shopping)!

The patio doors and window look lovely and done to within a day which is fab! Your neighbour is lucky she doesn't live next door to my neighbour - took him all of 4 months to do his windows and doors so tell her she ought to be very grateful to have such nice neighbours as you.
:-)

But seriously - sorry about the crap spewing out from next door. I only hope and pray they move away soon. You should not be tip toeing and on edge around your home - that's wrong.:-(

Your curtains look alright! Not too shrunk! :-) I had long ones before -ones that touched the carpet but changed them when my cats then (Ol Girl and Tim) thought it was a great place to play hide and seek and nearly ripped the whole lot down!

It's FRIDAY!!!!! Derry and Nicki are looking gorgeous! And I hope you treat yourself to your fave chocolate and caramel combo!

Take care

Your new patio door and window do look great. I know that you (and the cats) will enjoy 'the new stuff' (although some cats don't do change well.. we had one that would slink up on his stomach to things that were either 'new' or 'moved').

If there is a hem in the curtains you can let them down to bring them closer to the floor.
