It's done, pics another day...but more neighbour crap
It's all done, looks terrific.
But of course the neighbour had a melt down with me, mostly over the stuff from 6 months ago (our May holiday weekend).
I've apprised the property management company and condo board president of this morning's tirade, and just sent them an update, for the record:
So, guys, there you have it.
I can't get away from her. I come and go as quietly as possible and she's still frothing at the mouth about how picky I am about noise, etc., etc. I kept saying this was all 6+ months ago and that I haven't said a thing since, thought that things were okay.
*Bangs head*

Just a follow-up to my earlier email, once more for the record.
Of course the neighbour had to confront me again (at unit #17), very upset about what happened 6 months ago, still on about that, telling me I should have told her about the work today (thought it was part of the condo regs to let other owners/tenants know). She said something of her son's (I think a framed baptismal certificate) broke, but when I offered to pay for it, and suggested she just take a pic, she refused. (She said nothing about this in the morning, then had said nothing had broken.)
She said at one point she was going to call Sue (property manager admin person) and I encouraged her to do that to lodge a complaint, I told her it was a contractor (named the company) who had done the window--she told me she didn't know what he was doing, it should not have been that noisy, her husband's in construction and power tools aren't that loud (he installs heating and cooling systems, he's not in construction, unless he's changed jobs, always possible).
I told her no one around here has ever given me notice when work is to be done and that it doesn't bother me, etc., etc. but that if I ever had anything done again, I'd be sure to let her know.
It went on and on...I apologized again and again (and again and again), profusely, for offending/upsetting her again, but without much success. There are some serious family issues over there and I don't think she's reacting to only me. But that also means she's not rational, in my opinion, and can't be reasoned with.
For the record, since we had that confrontation after the long May weekend, I've not said anything to them about the noise, the screaming, swearing, etc. And this absolutely is the first time we've "talked" since the third week in September.

Comments
I had said, when she came around out back and told the contractor that I was "picky" about noise, that I didn't know if she was still there or was working a lot because I hadn't heard her (usually when she and the husband are home together they're fighting).
Well.
In the afternoon, she got her dander up about that comment--where else was she to be, did I think she just up and left her kids, etc. I told her no, but that as they usually fight and I hadn't heard her I wasn't sure if she was staying with her aunt (in town) or was working a lot. It was an innocuous comment (I've wondered if she had the gumption to leave him, but apparently not), but not innocuous to her. And then she told me I knew she didn't know what "innocuous" meant...WTF? Huh??? How the heck would I know that?! Anyway, it went on and on. Oh, she let it slip her husband has had past relationships and now had to wonder, from my comment, if he was at this time (words to that effect).
I think that if she gets like this again before they all implode over there, or move away, I'll just have to grab my little pocket camera, turn it on and tell her it would be best to tape our "talk" for both our sakes.
I can't tell you how much I hate living like this, next door to that kind of energy.
But, it's not that important in the long run, as either they finally will move or I will.
I hope.
I pray daily.
xoxoxo
But before today, I hadn't seen her or spoken with her since that last day Dad and Peter were here back on September 21st, I believe, after they had gone.
Points for future discussions: Do they think sound doesn't travel beyond their window and door? Would they like to listen to the dozens of recordings you've made of their fighting and screaming? They should be thankful you haven't called the police a dozen times on them, but you may not be so nice in the future, so just STFU. And then smile and walk away. No, there's no point in arguing with a crazy person.
The year before last we had new windows put in and new Pergo floors...translation? TONS of hammering, sawing, etc.
I didn't notify my neighbors (nor should I have to)...they remodeled the condo downstairs from us as well and no one asked us...nor should they have to!
Meg: Yes...I thought it blew over 6 months ago, but apparently not!
I'm forever thankful I've had the foresight to tape some of their doozie fights/melt downs. I have 49 to date. Hope to high heaven I'd never need to use them, but she's definitely unstable. Scary. He's scary too. She ranted about a lot of things this aft, went on for a bit about how she doesn't have a home, her husband has a home, her kids have a home, she's just a maid (and something else, can't remember, cook?). Blah blah.
Nothing like walking on eggshells in your own home, with psychos on the other side of the wall! :-O
If the blogging does nothing else, at least it's a document of sorts, if ever needed (goddess forbid).
Maybe the lesson in this is to practice your meditation and quieting of self in the midst of crazy.
