Office lunch turned out to be nice!
Okay, Tuesday's lunch turned out to be quite bearable. Probably because I somehow managed to sit at the "fun" end of the table. It turns out that the woman I privately thought of as a little Hitler, for reasons I won't go into here, is actually funny, engaging, outgoing and a world-traveler (on a budget). She has so many terrific stories and is hilarious. She also has two rescue Persians. The other, older woman in the same unit has a dog and two rescued cats, one cat a stray that showed up about a week ago. (Her senior cat passed early this summer.) She, too, is a world-traveler, though prefers to do the 5-star hotel kind of travelling. :-)
So it was okay, and I managed two hours before I called it a day. At least I wasn't the first person to leave--I was the second. LOL.
My boss and his partner have an open house Saturday evening--groan--but I'll suck it up and go, unless we have a snowstorm. (Snow's in the long term forecast, and quite a bit of it.) One of my female co-workers will be away that weekend, so can't make it, but W. and I have made a pact to go to put in an appearance. She lives out of town, but as I'm on the way, will pick me up, barring inclement weather.
Monday is a surprise baby shower for someone in the building, and this is a potluck. Pins in my eyes, folks, pins in my eyes. But I'm committed to going and to bringing a cheese ball. If I can't find one that looks good, I'll just make one, they're so simple to put together. Even I can do that.

I was home yesterday, just feeling really rundown with the onset of another head cold. So I lolled around all day, sleeping, drinking juice, and popping vitamin C and echinacea. I feel much better today, so am glad I took the day to rest. I don't want to be sick while we're off for the holidays, because I certainly don't want to be stuck in the house with the next door neighbours home 24/7.
And speaking of...I could hear the father having some sort of "discussion" yesterday AM, outside, while the kids were getting themselves ready to go to school. (He takes them.) I was in bed at the time, trying to sleep. Couldn't make out what it was about, and thank goodness for that. But the mother slammed the door a couple of times afterward--not sure if that was because she knew I was home or if she was still in a tiff over the "discussion." She seemed to be gone all day (working?), so at least I had peace and quiet. Yay!

That's it. I'll leave you with a cute card from a friend in Montreal. Prayers/good vibes for her and her family would be appreciated, as her brother, Leo, is expected to pass away any day now--cancer. She has another (younger) brother and a sister as well, and she and her sister are with him in Gaspé this week. The younger brother (my age) is out west and is unable to travel at this time.
Peace and Blessings.

I'm so sorry for your friend... am shedding a few tears for her. XO
purrs to your friend and her family - losing a family member is terrible and I think this time of year would only make it worse
I loved how your first impressions of that woman were that she was like "Hitler" then she turned out to be nice. You sound soooooo much like me when I have to eat my words!
Sometimes my initial impressions are spot on, other times? Not so much!
Oh and I always try to be the SECOND one to leave too :)
I am also glad you are feeling better.
Lucky you getting snow!!
Oh I do hope you fend off the viruses! :-( I've been very good (TOUCH WOOD three times and offer prayers to the goddesses) in avoiding the dreaded virus this month despite everyone but everyone at work falling ill at one point or another. I so want to have a healthy Christmas! I hope your neighbours go off somewhere for their holidays!!
Hugs to you all! Thank heavens it's FRIDAY!! Take care
x
Love the header and background, very very festive.
Sorry you haven't been feeling well, hope you're over the bug soon. Who wants to be sick on their own time?
Thinking also of your friends - this is a horrible time of the year to lose a family member, so close to Christmas.
