Another Toby Update
I finally spoke with Meghan Thursday afternoon, after lunch.
Toby was still at the clinic (17 days yesterday). Meghan (vet's daughter, works there) said she has been really sick, has had an infection, and hasn't been well enough to take him home and spend time with him to get him settled in. But the intent still is to take him to their barn.
She said he's doing very well, gets along with all the other cats, rubs on the humans at feeding time, etc. She feels he's quite smart and will do fine with the horses. (He'll still go into the empty stall when he first gets there, of course.) I said (laughingly) that I wasn't sure if he'd end up being a resident clinic cat or would make it to the barn, but she said no, he'll go home with her as soon as she's well enough to be out there for a couple of hours at a stretch.
I told her I'd call again a couple of times, till I knew he was settled in and doing well, and that I wouldn't "pester" her after that. She kindly replied that I wasn't pestering her, she was glad that someone cared about him (enough to keep checking in).
So that's this week's Toby update!
BTW, I'm so glad he's safe and dry and warm right now; our windchill yesterday was hovering around minus 21 Celsius. Brrrrr!
Oh, you know, my boys still look out for him, on our fence and/or on the front step. Sometimes Nicki stares so intently at the fence that I go and check for myself, to make sure Toby hasn't somehow escaped and made his way back (it's only 2 km from the clinic to my house).
I'll give it another week and check back. :-)

Peace, and purrs from the boys.

Your boys miss him, I bet.
Love the flower pictures!! It is sunny again here, but everything is covered in snow!!
So it's for the best, all round, that Toby has a home elsewhere. :-)
BTW,your flower photos are beautiful.
It sounds as if he will be well cared for at the barn when he goes there. Since Meghan is planning to spend time with him there.
I am sitting on the couch taking it a bit easy as I got too sunburnt being out on the water today.
Have a lovely weekend, we hope you do something nice for yourself today Kim.
