Wine...or Advil?

Okay, I sucked it up and got 'er done today. Both coats. Started just past 6:30AM, did the first coat on the bedroom walls and the second on the closet walls and closet doors, cleaned myself up, went for groceries, came back, wolfed down some food and did the second coat. Then spent a couple of hours cleaning up, dusting, vacuuming, doing five loads of laundry (including all the bedding and the bedroom curtains too). I'm beyond exhausted.

First coat going on, early this AM.
No Nicki-cats were smothered under the plastic drop cloth covering the bed, don't worry.
I didn't cover him, he wiggled up under there himself, of course.
Last time I painted Derry added his personal touch--painted paw prints all over the hall floor and down the stairs. This time he was a good helper. It was me who got paint everywhere, of course.

Cat Guy: I beg to differ on painting being "fun" and "not that much work."

All the prep. All the cutting in. All the up and down on the step ladder to do the cutting in. (I'm short, okay?) All the clean up. Did I mention the clean up? Bedroom torn apart, having to be put back to rights, after cleaning.

Oh. My. Cod. There's not one part of my body that doesn't hurt.

Wine? Advil?

I dithered for a while, lying flat on the floor and feeling the ache in my back...legs...feet...arms. Managed to maneuver myself up, barely, and went for the wine first. Okay, it's Dubonnet. Haven't had any of that in oh, ten or fifteen years, but it was mentioned in the current issue of the LCBO magazine (Ontario Liquour Board's gorgeous publication), so I picked up a bottle earlier this week. Um. It's too sweet to drink straight or just on the rocks, I have to dilute it with club soda. No fresh lemon on hand, which would have been nice.

Advil later. Okay, Advil soon. After I fold and put away the laundry and crawl into a shot shower.

But...It's done, and have I said how happy I am with the colour? Wish you could see it as it really is. Soft soothing green with grey undertones. Probably not a colour I would have wanted on the walls even a few years ago (would have wanted a more vibrant, yellow-based green), but it suits my current state and mood.

Of course, I'd like fresh, new bedding now. But I'll settle for the freshly-laundered bedding.

Purrs from the boys and peace from me.

OMC, someone please bring me the Advil....I think I've seized up.

Awww Kim!!! If only Star Trek technology were real now, I'd transport a couple of the UK equivalent of Advils and a couple of bottles of this Dubonnet!!! LOL!! My goodness I am exhausted just reading your blog post - up and down and left and right! LOL!! But this green is gorgeous - I'd say fresh apple green! Well done you!!! Love how Nicki and Derry helped you along too!! Paws of approval from them methinks!! Hope you get to do some gentle stretching now!!! Or just rest up!!

Take care

That green is gorgeous! I love to paint BUT it is a lot of work, 'specially for us stubby types. A testament to paint durability is the pink paw print on the bathroom tile, put there by The Baby eight years ago. I never scraped it up and it's still there!
I really really like the green! And I can't believe you let the boys in the room with wet paint within reach. You are one brave lady!
Now that all the work is done, you can spend all of tomorrow just laying in bed and enjoying your paint work. :)

Love the color, it looks so calming and relaxing, just right for the bedroom.

I agree painting is NOT an easy job, it's the climbing and stretching to reach to ceiling height that always does me in. But there is the feeling of satisfaction when it's done. I'm totally impressed you did it in a couple of days. I'd have been sleeping on the couch for a week!

Enjoy your Dubonnet (no idea what that is actually)!

Kim, it looks great. I haven't painted much myself, but my daughter who graduated in Interior Design, loves to paint and is constantly changing the colors in her house. It looks like a lot of work to me. But now that it's done... enjoy!
I ache just reading it. It looks lovely though - enjoy!

Good work Kim, I admire your commitment, I usually only get most jobs half done. A new duvet sounds like a good idea to make your duvet complete.

Enjoy your wine/advil mix. Hope you have some good music playing while painting too.

lovely job....

I am on facebook as myself and then created a page for Random Felines. However, being a techno dork, it wasn't until this weekend that I got some help from Connie at tails from the foster kittens to get the page up and running (and still haven't figured out the badge thing). Once it was explained to me in person, it isn't that hard to move back and forth....but it is some work

The new green is very pretty. I'm a big fan of colours with grey in.
I understand Her Majesty dilutes her Dubonnet with Gin... just so you know :-)
I suspect you needed it even more the next morning when your muscles had Really seized!

It looks like an excellent job, better than I could do, especially with cat-help. Now it's done and you can enjoy it. Well done.
