Admittedly Underwhelmed...
Okay, I've been to the new Target store twice now, once yesterday afternoon for a look around and then again this morning.
I'm admittedly underwhelmed.
With the exception of a couple of home decor items, there's nothing I can't get elsewhere for equal or less in terms of price. I won't be giving up my treks to WalMart for household and drugstore goods.
The store looks great, obviously, rather like an updated Zellers IMO, but I guess I just expected something different, something more, having been on the Target.com site many times over the years. I even foolishly hoped they'd have a large pet section, with cat trees, but it's small, has far less than the old Zellers' pet section, which comprised two long aisles.
My other beef is with a design/layout issue.
The store is an anchor for the mall, as was Zellers. It has an upper floor outside entrance, as well as an upper and lower mall entrance. There are no check-outs on the upper level at the mall entrance and there's only a self-check out at the mall entrance on the lower floor. So if you want to use a the "services" of a cashier, you have to go upstairs and to the opposite side of the store from the mall entrance.
For the record, I loathe those self-check outs. If I'm going to pay for a store's merchandise or groceries, I want someone to ring up my sale and bag my items, thank you. It's not that I can't use a self-check out, but rather that I prefer not to. Because there's nothing like paying more and more and more for less and less and less.
I bought a few household items on sale, like laundry softener, a new pillow for my bed, etc., and an inexpensive scratcher for the boys, which they seemed to like. But I can't see any reason to go back until Dad visits in September with a vehicle, at which time I want to pick up those one or two larger household items, if they're in stock.
Until then, well, it's you and me, WalMart.
The boys break in the new scratcher this afternoon.
Purrs from the boys and peace from me.

That new scratcher you got the boys look very interesting. Love how a new toy can trigger off a mini whapping-tussling session. ;)
The boys seem to be enjoying their new toy!
Our outside cats have a new toy too. While cleaning the patio this weekend, we moved the wrought iron table and chairs from the patio to out beneath a tree. You'd think we bought them a new cat tree to watch them climb all over it, hide, and jump up at the birds in the branches.
Another thing I don't like about self checkout machines is how the companies are forcing these things on the consumer - of course one has to use these contraptions when there aren't any human cashiers in sight! Bleagh!
Take care

Target's pet merchandise leaves much to be desired in the States too. They have more dog items than cat and our aisles are the same.
I am right with ya sister about self-check-out. I REFUSE to use them!
Loved (as always), seeing the boys!
Nothing was was better priced than what I can get at Walmart or on sale at other stores. Since it is out of the way, we live in the east end, I'm not likely to go back unless there some fantastic deal I can't do without.
The scratcher looks awesome, the boys really to enjoy it!
Have a great week.
