It's "Friday" For Me

Today is my "Friday," since I'm taking Thursday and the real Friday off. Monday is a holiday for most provinces in Canada, so the five consecutive days will be nice. The "fleas" (kids) next door are still away for the moment, so I hope to have at least the rest of this week with peace and quiet. It's going to be exponentially harder for me and the boys to endure the screaming obscenities/pounding/slamming doors when they return, but...one day at a time!

Nicki has a vet appointment tomorrow at 10:30AM, for a check and for his anal glands. The "new" clinic. He won't be impressed, but maybe I'll give him some Zylkene (natural calming product/capsule) an hour before we go, to help take the edge off. He usually goes berserk in the carrier.

I've really ramped up the walking lately, in an effort to burn a few extra calories, but am having difficulties with the right foot again. So I have to face the reality that I won't ever be able to walk as much as I could before the plantar fasciitis. That sucks, though it could be far worse.

I've started tracking my caloric intake and exercise, though, on myfitnesspal.com, and it's rather scary, this new awareness. It's good, but quite a reality check. No wonder I'm so heavy! I think the powers that be are trying to keep us all fat and unhealthy, because there's sugar and sodium in everything. Especially sugar. I've not had a day yet where I'm under my target for sugar intake. Granted, most of the sugar is coming from "healthy" sources such as fresh berries, yogurt and raw honey, but sugar is sugar.

The pre-menopausal thing doesn't help either!

From a Google Image search.
I guess I'd best get back to my spreadsheet. I'm dragging my heels because it's just so much fun, fun, fun. LOL.

Have a great day, a joy-full day if you can, or at least a thank-full day. I'm doing my best to remember the words of the minister at the church a few weeks ago, about some things that seem like a curse actually being a blessing.  :-)

Purrs from the boys and peace from me.

I do hope those *fleas* won't be back anytime soon. I just don't understand why they need to scream and why their parents can't control them.
Hopefully the vet visit goes well for Nicki. :)
Weight Watcher's also has a great app that you can use that is quite similar.
Enjoy your days off and good luck to Nicki!
That's a wonderful, positive attitude about a curse becoming a blessing, but I my experience, things that seem like a curse, usually are. Like the family next door, vets to Nicki, and 12" of partly cloudy. Have a great mini-vacation. Get lots of reading done.

I am so stealing your seven dwarves of menopause and pasting it all over my wall! LOL! That's brilliant!

Oh my goodness - my friend went on a a sugar free diet - I mean seriously - no sugar - not even natural sugar - including any in fruit etc. He did lose weight though but - oh boy I had to tell him he wasn't looking good at all.

Good luck with the walking (how's the rowing?)! I think so long as you are mobile and not sedentary - even doing exercises sitting down for 15 minutes a day helps.

Awww purrs for Nicki for his vet's visit!

Take care

Scout says he has some tips for Nicki for avoiding being given medication and how to voice displeasure over the carrier/car/vet if he need, lol

Enjoy your days off!!!

I hope all goes well with Nicki's appointment and the fleas don't come back and you enjoy your time off!

I'm hoping poor Nicki manages his vet visit with as little stress (for both of you) as possible.

Good luck with the reduced sugar/salt diet. I've never been able to stick to a diet (except the see food, eat food one) so you have my admiration for trying!

Hope the fleas stay away until school starts!!!

Just love the Menopause Ladies picture! Have had it all this summer, the symptoms getting stronger. Would like to pass it on to my fb wall but just don't know how, stupid me.
