On Target

I'm "on target" for taking a half day vacation and going to check out our brand new Target store. It opened on Tuesday in the old Zellers location in the mall. Not having been in a Target in the U.S., I don't know what to expect in terms of quality, though I've heard it's supposed to offer better labels (at least in clothing) for reasonable prices. Not as inexpensive as in the States, unfortunately. But I'll see for myself!

One of my hostas a week or so ago, before it fully bloomed.

I hope to take one or two days off next week, before our long holiday weekend. I've got an appointment for Nicki's check/anal glands for next Thursday, but if the neighbour kids come home this weekend I might try to move the appointment to Friday August 2nd and just take the one day off instead of two. I'm playing that one by ear right now, literally.

Spied on my way to work a week or two ago, a cat I often see curled up in one of the chairs on his step. Guess he was particularly  hungry that morning!
Work's the same, a lot of people taking vacation right now. I really need a chunk of time away, because I just don't want to be here right now, am tired and feeling burned out, but have to save a week for Dad's fall visit. And it's discouraging how quickly a day here and a half-day there can eat up your vacation allotment.

Another cat spied one morning on the way to work. I was a bit too far away with the Canon Elph, had to use digital zoom, hence the crappy quality.
Oh, speaking of sightings, I saw a fox this morning, trotting along the side of our campus library. By the time I got my little camera out, s/he had disappeared. But then reappeared, heading down the sidewalk to a main intersection. By the time I turned on the camera and zoomed out, s/he was gone, so no snapshot unfortunately. I hope s/he stays safe!

On my doorstep last week -- Derry missed it!
My boss's son just dropped in with a carrier filled with three tiny puppies--he and his wife foster dogs for our local humane society. The puppies are only 3 - 4 pounds, will top out at 70 - 80 when grown, are of mixed parentage (can't remember what, I wasn't listening, was trying to get snapshots). He must have just picked them up and be on his way home. I missed why he stopped in with them too. LOL. I don't think any of the snapshots came out (too blurry), but if they did, I'll post another time, since I can't download them right now.

So I'm going to waste another hour, then get the heck out of here.  :-)

We yank pronounce "Target" as "tar-shay"; so much more upscale, LOL!
Maybe the parents have sent the kids to boarding school? Then they won't be back this weekend. ;)

will be interested in what you think of Target. I think they used to have a little better quality of things, but lately I am finding their clothing to be less than what it once was. I think that is nearly true of a lot of brands. Do you have Kohl's??

Yes you are right I do remember how easily taking a day here and there eat away at the vacation days left.

Hope you do have a good weekend.

I don't think Target is all that "inexpensive" in the states either.
You are small so you don't have to worry, but their plus sizes leave much to be desired.
Guess they don't like fat people shopping in their stores :)

I agree that Target isn't all that inexpensive, at least not as much as they used to be. You have to go to Walmart for that, but I hate Walmart and Walmart really isn't the place for clothes. I'll be interested in what you think of Target. We have a credit card there that gives us 5% off all purchases. That's pretty much our go-to store for supplies. I haven't bought clothes in a long time so I don't know if Target has changed there. I love their Target brand of toiletries, cleaners and paper supplies. I think it's called Up and Up. Good quality and cheaper than name brand.

The sunset picture is so pretty. Great capture of the dragonfly!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Wish we had a target in NZ, so little choice here and soooo expensive.

For eg, we pay about $20 US for our lipsticks and mascara here, when I see them online for a third of the price.

I am wondering if all the Target stores are opening at the same time. I was in a Target in Billing Montana last year. It was OK and did have beter quality the Zellers did but I didn't find the prices any cheaper then what we can get here during a good sale. I will be anxious to go to Regina or Medicine Hat now and see!

Have fun!
