I have a hall closet shelf!
Bless my cubicle-mate's husband--they both stopped by after work re: the basement door, and she had him put up my hall closet shelf. No door yet, but I can hang up my jackets! Yippee!
When he comes back for the door he'll do my bedroom closet shelf too.
BTW, we won't be replacing the basement door. He said that (a) it will be hard to get a door to fit properly (maybe the existing one is an odd size?) and (b) a solid core door won't absorb the sound. But--and I'm sure my dad said something similar some months back and I thought he was full of it--gluing foam-backed carpet onto the back of the door would absorb noise coming up from the basement. Ugly, but if it works.....He'd take the door and knob off, glue the carpet remnant on and cut out for the door knob, put the door back up.
He also did recommend that I carpet my stairs, which is something I've had on my "to do" list for quite some time now. As in about two years. But I think I'll look into soon, at least get an idea as to cost of materials and labour. The stairs are bare, so at least I wouldn't need anyone to pull up old carpet.
Slow progress indeed, but it was wonderful to hang up some of my things, at last.
Nicki and Derry in the middle of a brief tussle this morning.
Maybe not so wonderful. LOL.
And Derry has found a new and wonderful hiding spot!
Purrs from the boys and peace from me.

we like Bellen's idea as well - maybe get some foam core, cover it in fabric and put that on the door.
it is nice to have friends with skills :)
We like that hidey spot, Derry.
Hugs to you all!
I love your blog banner at the top.
Scout says that is a primo hiding place!!
