Ice pics from early Saturday AM

I had to go for groceries, food that I could eat without cooking, and snapped some pics along the way.

It's far, far worse now, after another entire day and night of rain, freezing rain and ice pellets. (Ice pellets as I'm typing this at 5:30AM EST.)

The power flickered numerous times yesterday afternoon and evening, and the TV shut off and then on again right away three times, and I lost cable/internet/phone for a very short time. But so far things have been okay. Knock on wood. Given that power has been off all around us (I've been checking our City's utilities site), I'm amazed mine didn't go out overnight. (I've probably just jinxed it now.)

I've not seen the like of this since 1998, it's crazy out there.

Waiting for a west-heading bus around 7:45AM on Saturday.
Pouring rain at that point, no plows or sanders yet.
(Looking at a private business driveway/lot.)
For sale at the grocery store.
Obviously inside the bus shelter, just before 9:30AM, waiting to head home.

Snapped after I stepped off the bus at my stop.
Almost home...My unit is just to the right, up the steps.

Nicki ventured out for a moment.
Snapped from an upstairs window.

The storm is supposed to wind down by mid to late morning. I have no idea how things are city-wide, since local news sites and local radio stations suck, IMO.

BTW, both boys were so desperate to go outside yesterday evening, that they did venture out while I was on the phone with Dad. Nicki carefully stuck close to the outside of the patio door and jumped off onto the ground. Derry, however, didn't realize how slippery the step was and fell right off. Yes, I laughed, I couldn't help it. He was fine, though! And neither was outside for very long, believe me.

I'm sorry, but we laughed too reading about Derry falling off the step. Stay safe and warm all!

so glad to know you are OK and that you did not lose power. I know your area is prepared for this type of weather but since I've never experienced this I can not imagine what I would do. But hope things clear out and the ice goes away.

I'm glad to hear you have power, I hope it stays on. The thought of 51 hours or freezing rain is terrifying - it can do so much damage!

I'll admit I laughed too at the thought of Derry sliding off the step.

Stay safe and warm!

Holy icicles! STAY INSIDE!!! I can see you venturing out and busting your leg and then WHO is gonna giggle at Derry? Fingers crossed you don't have a deep freeze next.

OH! and I looked at the link you sent, LOVE the motto. Thanks!
Wow we had ice too but NOTHING like yours! Yours is sooo thick! Hope your power is on!

Wow Kim. I think I would stay home and eat noodles if I were you. Looks awfully cold. I feel bad for feeling grumpy that we have 10 days of rain forecast (my days off) over Christmas.

Keep warm and toasty my friends.

We're knocking on wood here too! Lordy!! Hope the worst is now over and that calmer weather returns! That's some pretty serious wintry scenes there!

Awww hugs to Derry! Oh dear! :-) And purrs to Nicki! Take care

I hope your power is continuing to stay on. That's the part I hate the most about these storms. It looks so cold and forbidding there. Stay warm and safe!!

I would have laughed too at Derry but am glad he's OK. :)

I would have laughed, too!!! I hope it gets better soon.

Our car got stuck in the snow -- it could not make it up a hill. Luckily a neighbor pulled us out :)
Hahaha. Funny little Derry-bear!

We can't believe you have ice pellets! Brrrrrrr.

Ugh! I feel for you. We'll probably have the same in January. Be careful and walk with baby steps!! Or better yet...hibernate indoors if possible!
We're purring for you.
