"Hey, big spender!"

I went back to Mattress Mart yesterday and bought a head board anyway. Not expensive at all, but the best (for me) of what they sell. I want something that enables me to sit up and read in bed comfortably, so nothing metal, no "rails" or gaps.

In for a penny, in for a pound. Whatever. At this stage of the game, spending a bit more isn't going to make much of a difference in the overall debt load.

So, fingers crossed the new bed gets delivered next weekend (oh, please!) and then the head board will come in a week or so after that. I wish they stocked these locally, but at least there will be no delivery charge (for either the bed or head board).

I've been keeping my eye out for a new comforter or bed spread or duvet cover, but haven't seen anything that screams "Kim" and is the right colour scheme...and the right price. No rush, and no "need" either. Something new and fresh will come along eventually.

Nicki seems okay, haven't heard him cough since Thursday actually (though it's not an every day thing anyway).

I've been watching a little bit of the Olympic coverage, bits and pieces. I won't go down the road of politics, cheating, back room deals, human rights, homophobia, the killing of stray dogs, etc.

What struck me, however, was that Annie was alive for the last winter Olympic games, hosted in Vancouver, BC. It hit me Friday evening while I was at the sink, washing dishes and listening to CBC TV's commentary. It feels like she's been gone so long now, but it's been only 3 years. The anniversary of her death is coming up next weekend, on the 16th; I guess that's why it struck me so forcibly. Well. There's nothing I can write about that, everyone understands.

I'm just glad to have the boys for company and entertainment!

Have a lovely day, everyone. Purrs from the boys and peace from me.

Glad you found a headboard/bed set that you are happy with and that works into your budget. Don't they say we sleep 3/4rds of our life or something? It's a big investment but when you consider the amount of time we sleep one that does deserve we pamper ourselves.

There are stark revelations, and I know with this year I will be struck by Abby was here with me in Jan Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun,Jul and half of Aug of 2013. So it will be moving into territory of her not being in that time and space anymore. Grief doesn't mark itself by the calender I know but we mark time that way. (hugs) to you Kim I can understand.

xoxoxo
It must be so exciting to wait for the arrival of your new bed and head board. I hope your bed gets to you by next weekend!

How nice about the headboard!

It's so strange the way we will of things like you did with Annie and the Olympics. Next month will be a year for Lucy and sometimes I think I dread it but I don't know that it will be different for me than any other time since I'm always struggling with it and trying to overcome. I agree that you having Nicki and Derry and me having my Annie for company helps so very much.

Lovely headboard! I'm certain you'll get many years of use. Someday I'll grow up and have nice things...when I can't travel anymore.

Memories can be so bittersweet and catch us without warning. I'm glad you have the two boys to comfort you.

Hope you have a good week!
Love the headboard! Bet it's very comfortable to lean up on to read.

Awwww hope all of your new bed arrives!! The headboard looks ever so slick and modern! Sorry, totally missed out on what's happened to Nicki but I do hope he's ok - sending you and him many purrs and hugs!

I'm waiting for figure skating to start (tomorrow I think)! My fave winter sport event to watch! At the moment there is curling. Erm. Nope, bring on the drama of figure skating! LOL!

Special extra hugs to you for angel Annie's anniversary. And purrs to Derry too.

Take care

That headboard looks great (and nice to lean against, too)! You know, I was just thinking of Maggie's passing, too. As you know, she and sweet Annie went to the Bridge at about the same time. Big hugs and peace and love to you as you remember your Annie with love.
