Sleep? What's that? (Or Poor Nicki!)

I’m definitely running on sugar today!

Around 11PM last night Nicki, who was sleeping on my bed, had another sneezing fit, the first since the latter part of June. (He’s sneezed a lot in the past few months, but not like this, upwards of a dozen times in one go.) This is how his severe URI started last February. So the poor boy spent the rest of the night sneezing off and on, though his subsequent fits weren’t quite as bad as the first. Is it allergies? I have no idea to what, as nothing in the house has changed and I’d have thought that outdoor allergies would be done with. Is it the virus he had last winter, cycling around again? (It’s not the Herpes virus, that’s about all I can say.)

Derry, meanwhile, felt the need to be glued to my side all night, so every time I shifted position, which was frequently because of hip pain, he followed me and tucked himself in tight, often lying on my hand or outstretched arm.

Plus I was up three times for myself, whereas once is the norm.

Oh, man, I’m tired today.

Fortunately, Nicki doesn’t appear to be sick, knock on wood, or wasn’t when I left the house at 6:40AM. He played like the wild cat he is, ate, did his business, was normal in every other way. But something certainly set him off again. Maybe it really is allergies? I know mine are really bad now, and while most of the time I can deal with my allergy to cats, right now it’s pretty bad. I’m popping allergy pills like crazy these days. So maybe Nicki has his own seasonal allergies on top of his asthma/bronchial issues.

Everything is so tangled together it seems impossible to sort out the cause(s) of his health problems.

I’m currently trying PetAlive.com's FCV Protect (granules) with the hope that it lessens the effects and severity this flare-up. (Since neither their Respo-K nor AmazaPet was any help at all.) I gave him two doses this morning, in his first and then second breakfast, and will give him two more doses this afternoon and evening. He’ll get it twice a day for the rest of the week and I’ll see how he is. I've actually used it before, and will cautiously state that it does seem to help. (I hope I haven't jinxed it now!)

Anyway, I’m hoping for a more peaceful night for us all, with no sneezing or worse, and significantly more sleep!

Peace.

It sounds like you all could do with an extra day off to catch up on sleep and therapeutic cuddles. And second breakfast? Buddy knows all about that and Theo is always trying to get us to start him on second breakfast and second dinners too!

I hope it turns out to be nothing for Nicki and all is well.
It could easily be allergies, Cody has them, he doesn't sneeze but he gets the red hot spots. Hoping Nicki is ok!

Poor Nicki and poor you! My understanding is fall can be quite the time for allergy sufferers. Mine are pretty mild but I do notice more symptoms during fall I think than spring.

I hope you guys all sleep well tonight and he doesn't have any trouble!

Poor Nicki, and you and Derry too! Sleepless nights are no fun for anyone, though the cats are fortunate to able to nap at will the rest of the day.

Hopefully Nicki's sneezing is nothing more than allergies. My Sami sneezes every once in a while, three or four at a time but she's shown any lethargy or other symptoms of illness.

Hope you all have a better night tonight!

Maggie has asthma & allergies. They flare up occasionally, but can get bad. Chloe Jo is the one who gets really sick, quickly. She has consistent breathing issues. We have to keep her calm, which isn't easy. She wears a calming collar. I hope you can find a solution; is can be scary. Hug.
