Catching up at the end of the week
Dad sent me an email last night, I got it this morning. It was too hot for them to walk on the beach yesterday, where they're staying in Mexico. Boo hoo.
Here was our morning view today:
We got about 20 cms of snow this morning, on top of the New Year's Day storm and the ice on the 4th. It looked pretty, yes indeed. From the inside, not from the middle of the morning commute.
It cleared up later in the morning, and this was the evening sky as I was getting home:
The sun still rises and sets, doesn't it, no matter what's happening in our lives and in the crazy world.
In my mundane corner of the world, which thankfully was peaceful and nonviolent this week, I missed the better part of two days' work because of a bad head cold, though I made it through the whole day today. Minor stuff.
Also minor, but a perk: I got my AirMiles reward, the new convection/toaster oven. I've not had a convection oven before, so I'll see if it really cuts down on cooking time...when I actually get around to doing more than making a piece of toast. (I have used a toaster oven for almost 2 decades, though.)
As usual, Nicki claimed the box.
Nicki always is front and centre with whatever is going on. Derry was in hiding during the unpacking, warming himself on the floor vent behind the couch and keeping clear of any scary "monsters."
Unpacked and ready to go.
So a quiet week in my part of the world -- and that's a good thing. I hope your little "corner" of planet Earth also has been quiet. There's been too much terror and tragedy and death as it is.
Peace.

I"ll be interested to hear how you use your new convection oven.
As you know, the weather is perfect, well...maybe some sunshine would be nice, but it's mild and great for walking on the beach. It would be great if some of this (fog excluded) could make its way east!
Good luck with the convection oven, I've often wondered how well they work. You'll have to post a review at some point.
Have a great rest of the weekend!
I love your snowflake theme.
The snow looks like it sucks. We still like to complain when winter arrives with us, but really ours is so mild compared to yours. We have only had snow once in 40 years and it lasted for only ten hours.
Warm hugs.
